Just Bought the Only Blue 88 Turbo "S"

Just picked it up today.... the only Ocean Blue 1988 944 Turbo "S" and yes, I am going to put the correct wheels back on it. I even have the window sticker...

Very nice. Good call on putting the Turbo S wheels back on it. A silver Turbo sticker on the right front fender would look nice. (My old man had an 89 with that option and it looked sweet)

I'm lucky that I have a few sets of correct wheels. I know the decal that you are talking about, and you are right, it is a great look, but this car being the only one, I'm not going to mod it (it already has chip & exhaust, but I have the stock parts too) Here is what it came with..

Turbo "S"s were only availalbe in 1988.
The 88.5 and 89 Turbos had the same equipment (Big brakes, 247hp, LSD, etc) as the 88 S but were not considered a Turbo S.
You can tell which were the S's and 88.5 and 89 by the wheels, other than that they look the same. (I.e, you could put S wheels on an 87 and up 944T and it would look the same). 86 944T's had a different offset so you cannot share wheels between 86's and newer 944's.

Wow. Great find. When I bought my 88 S it had the same wheels mounted on the car but the original also came with the purchase. I ended up putting the original wheels on.

Visually you can't really tell as LuisGT3 stated other than maybe the wheels and the big brakes and oil coolers for the LSD Trans. You would have to open the hood to see the difference of a S or Non S. Even then you really have to look.

Thanks guys, I remember when these came out, only stightly shower than a 930 & $10K less, less than a Grand and it is faster with a ligher top speed. This kinda makes me want to build the black Turbo "S" race tub & have been sitting on...

Beautiful! My next Porsche buy will concentrate on getting an '88.5 or '89 Turbo for sure! Enjoy it.

I've watched too many people hack up one-off, or similarly rare cars. I'm happy to finally see someone going the other way. Congratulations on the buy.
