Quote: My friends don't give me crap.
Most seem happy to see one lots of thumbs up.
Not hard to insure with a clean record.
$900 a year annual maintenance.
My dealer is a friend.

Funny how people are willing to comment on something they know nothing about.
I owned an 2005 F430 from 2005-2007. It amazes me what people say when they have no clue who you are your past cars.

Neither. McLaren 12C spider is the obvious choice.

You ultimately have to drive it to understand
Agree with your last statement " have to drive it to understand".

I used to be a guy who was all about porsche's are the best and way outperform fcar and for a lot less money. After having a perfectly specced and modded GT2, which was faster and handled better than any car I have driven including Aventador's and MP4's.

Now I have a Scud and am more thrilled by every moment of driving it than any porsche 911 has ever given me (excluding the CGT). Everyone who has risen in my GT2 and loved it, does not understand until I take them for a ride in the Scud. They giggle like little boys and have stupid grin's on their faces.
The 458 will excite him and thrill him while the 991TTS will only impress with straight line acceleration. Even though an fcar is not as fast it feels much more exciting and you would not know it was slower.

The only draw back I have is I can't just drive it anywhere and park it nor want to be seen in it too much.

Then what good is it? It's a great car but if you can't enjoy it why own it? That's why we love P-cars.

I completely know what you mean...and I don't have the personality - nor pocket depth for that matter - to deal with that sort of anxiety of ownership. Even if I could afford it, I would be driving the TTS which I have ordered.

Quote: That's a tough comparison because there's about a 150K difference in cars! I love the Porsche and is a car that's realistic for me to own. Ferrari..........not so much. If you can afford the 458 that would be my pic. The sound alone with that top off should seal the deal.
The 458 spider MSRP's for $233, and the Turbo S cab is pushing 200k BEFORE options. I would bet that by the time options are through, the two are close by a negligible margin. Definitely nowhere near the $150k price difference you are claiming. Then you have the 7 years included maintenance on the 458, the equivalent of which from Porsche will not be cheap.

The 991TTS is a great car, but the pricing is an absolute rip off.

The TTS cab is a 200k car, you aren't going to park that anywhere you wouldn't park an F-car.

In which world are you referring to that I can buy a 458 spider for 233k. Canadian pricing is 349k for the spider and the turbo s cab is 215. Thats not far off the 150 difference.

I would be anxious too - the Porsche just seems to blend in so well and is unobtrusive.

The 991tt is just another Porsche for the average Joe. Most people can't make the difference between a carrera/targa/4S/Turbo/Gt2/Gt3. People that know I drive a 911 sometimes are so happy to tell me they saw a "Carrera" I don't have the guts to tell them that they just saw a base 911.

So yes, you can park a 991TT at more places than a Ferrari. Can you park it anywhere you'd park a beat up Civic? no. But anywhere you'd park a 3-Series BMW, I'd argue you can also park a 911. At least in my neck of the woods.

While BASE price may not be that much of a difference there is a huge difference once you start piling the options are (and in the case with Ferrari many things they charge for that Porsche doesn't, like color of brake calipers, etc.).

I am currently contemplating a TTS coupe vs. a 458 Italia and while the Italia starts at $240K I quickly piled in options to reach a $315K price tag (this does not even include some of the even pricier options like carbon fiber in the engine bay, outside of the car, special paint or two-tone car, etc.). Ferraris will probably be MUCH more expensive once you option the car the way you want...
