Sad News @ 300 miles

Got an error light for rear steering not operating properly...car is back at the dealer after a scant 10 days in my possession. I almost cried.

The dealer gave me a 2014 911 S with 54 miles as a loaner...crazy thing is that when I drove off I asked myself "Why is this car so slow?"...oh how quickly the bar gets set by the Turbo S.

I'll keep you posted on what the diagnosis is...I think I read a few months back about someone else having a similar problem.

All this fancy techie stuff just waiting to send an error code to ruin your day. Glad it was minor and you got you car back the same day.

Help!

OK, the frustration continues! Got my ride back last night and the car 'warning light' came on coming home from dinner...and has come on 4-5 times today. It appears in the bottom of the right TFT screen and stays there with no additional information for anywhere between 3-10 seconds and then disappears. I was able to get a quick shot (attached) with my iPhone as I approached a stop light.

Has anyone else had this happen?

My dealer did a full run through yesterday when they re-calibrated the rear steering...I'm worried this is going to stump them.

Thanks in advance for the feedback/help.

That's the warning light from your front sensing radar that you're getting to close to the car infront of you. I've seen it numerous times in my turbo s. It has to do with how close you are to the car infront of you. If you're gaining at too great of a speed on the car infront of you, it will turn red, a "chime" will go off, and a red colored brake sign will illuminate on the dash. Nothing is wrong with the car unless there is no cars infront of you when it happens.

BigRich, thanks a lot for the context. I did some testing today and obviously it seems that you are correct. I feel like a chump not knowing what was up...one question is do you ever get the light when your ACC is off? I was trying to test that out and even when I pushed the stalk down to stop ACC, sometimes I was getting the light.

Thanks again for the feedback.

I was about to tell you the same thing big rich just said. I get this sometimes. Normal operation.

I think the system will apply the brakes if it senses you are in imminent danger of rear ending someone.
