Mounting of front license plate on Turbo s 2015 dilema

Just bought a Turbo S Cabriolet 2015 and looking for advise on mounting of front license plate. In Illinois it is a law and want to reduce any attention form the fellows in blue. Thought about the tow hook but may block air intake. any ideas or locations that other turbo owners used. Really appreciate all the info.

Thanks

Tow hook will not work due to interference with parking sensors.

I thought about the electric hideaway remote controlled plate that I have on my E63 S but it takes away about 1.5 inches of ground clearance which is a nonstarter.

Minnesota requires a front plate...

so I just installed the plastic center mount bracket and live with it. Supposedly in exchange for allowing radar detectors, Minnesota requires a front license plate. Many years ago I was given a citation for not having my front plate installed on my 928 GTS. Since then I have installed them. I now run personalized plates so at least I can convey a message if I have to screw up the front end with a plate.

I did not care for the tow-hook setup because I did not like the asymmetrical look and it was more of a pain to keep fiddling with the holder.

One other thought is to not install it until you are given a citation. This might work depending on how frequently you drive it.

Carjunky did you drill into the bumper and secure a license plate holder. The dealer said there is a holder that can be installed and taken off with 3M tape. I'm afraid at high speeds that the plate and holder will disappear potentially causing damage to my care and others???

I live in a province requiring a front plate, however since 2005 my last 3 Porsches and have gone plateless for over 50,000kms of driving and several police traffic stops, without issue.

I really dislike the look of a plate on the front of Carreras but realize at some point I'll probably get a warning or citation. I always have the front plate with me in the frunk....

Yeah I took a chance and don't have a front plate, although I do carry it in the frunk. Only a weekend driver so maybe I just got lucky. I always thought I would say the part I on order.

I installed the front bracket myself. It was painful to do but I am over it. I would wait until you get stopped. Are you up to it?

Are you up to it? I ask myself this question every day.

Thanks everyone for the help. I think I will use the US millworks powder white tow hook and shut off the parking sensors. In my old 2009 turbo I did not have 50% of the cool stuff that the 991 has so I probably will not miss the parking sensors. If it becomes an issue then I will be back on the forum for some help. I will post pictures and info on how it was for me using this plate holder. I am almost positive that I will get pulled over or ticketed in Chicago when parking. Illinois needs money and they don't seem to care where it comes from. Thank you.

I used the Skene Design plate holder. Attaches to the underside of the bumper and is easily removed.

I wish I could have done that but alas my car has the Active Cruise Contol which has a huge sensor smack in the middle of the front center grille. So I had to mount the front plate above it. Hate it but did not want any more no front plate tickets on what is a daily driver that goes through the Verrazano Bridge tollbooths (which are crawling with TBTA police officers who live to write no front plate tickets) every time I use it to get to work

All these problems avoided if domiciled in Fl more than 6 months and 1 day a year!

Two questions, pls:

Did you need to drill to install your front plate. If you have a chance, please send a photo with the plate detached, and how easy it is to remove. I may been to do that with my TTS. As the side plate messes up my parking sensor, which is important to me.

For your radar diffusers, I suspect that is ALP, why did you decide to place them there, as opposed to the air inlets. I'm planning to get mine installed in couple of weeks, and not sure best position.

Thanks very much.

Had the dealer mount the front plates on the TTS and the Pan GTS because the absence of a front plate is equivalent to a moving violation in Massachusetts, I believe. Some towns are much more focused on the missing front plate than others, but who needs to give the LEO's another reason to stop Porsche's?

If driving through MA with an out of state plate, is it still considered a moving violation? For example, if a driver had a CT plate, got ticketed for missing plate in MA, do points, and fine get sent to their home state?
