Selling my 2014 911 Turbo S for a 488GTB?
Following a serious analysis of what was available in the market, it took me almost a year to convince myself in 2014 that the best choice for me was the new 991 Turbo S. I must admit that it was more of an " intellectual decision" than one coming from pure attraction and desire.
On paper, as you all know, the 911 Turbo S is hard to beat. Being a fan of acceleration, amazing handling, it is difficult to fault the car, especially as a daily driver. When I bought this car, I thought I would keep it would be THE CAR that I would keep for a very long time...
I however found myself spending the winter planning for various upgrades. 1st for the sound that is really un interesting for an exotic car, then various carbon accents, wheels, different rear spoiler, etc., all of this to make the car stand out more. I also planned for various performance enhancements...
After all, maybe I am not the only 911 turbo s owner who has paid a significant premium to get the "top Model" and is getting really annoyed that nowadays, all new Porsches look alike and there are numerous units on the road. Yes, I want a vehicle that is more unique.
Don't get me wrong, after driving the car for 4 months last year, I really enjoyed it. It is an amazing car but at the end of the day, it is more of an intellectual appreciation for me than something that comes from the gut. A love affair...
So as I was planning to fork another 50 K on this car to make it more unique, I thought, why don't you just sell it and buy something that will make your heart really pound, the new Ferrari 488 GTB!!!
FYI, I use this car 6 months per year and only in good weather. Approx, 4000 miles max per year.
I need your advise. I am especially interested to hear from people who have owned both brands.
Thanks
JF

I know that some of the guys here currently own both brands or have previously owned them. If you think that asking such a question on a forum like this is ridiculous, I don't know what forums are for? I am looking for something more unique for my own eyes and not for the eyes of others, maybe a concept that you cannot grasp.

OP if it help, I agree 488 is a beautiful car, more attention getting than 991tts. so nothing wrong to go ahead and get it for you. But try to keep TT as well for more durable driving purposes.....use 488 for looking purpose and occasional blast in straight line and not so harsh driving condition. You cant go wrong.

Owning both is not the point. As you say many here own more than one (even me). But of course ultimately a decision like this only "the man" can make...or.. in some cases maybe not capable...and advice is then needed. Seriously. And thakfully this is where we need a speedster...the man with all the answer. Hope fully he can arrive soon to make a wise decision to you.
What he is trying to say is that you are an annoying little Troll that won't go away.
Carry on now.
Sounds like you have no issue with the budget.
By the time you've done with the new toy, just trade/get different one.
I've been there and feels great about it.
I stayed at around 100k (brand new price) car for long time.
By the time I experience 250k used car, I realize what I've been missing.
Soon after, I go up and up again and now stayed at 600+k car.
I've decided it is enough for now and plan to stay here for a while.
But I know at one point in life, I still want a cool 1Million car.

I'd keep both
