Sport vs Sport plus
Sport vs Sport plus
Good day people. Hope everyone is doing great.
I have noticed starting from a 40 km roll in gear one flooring it
till gear 3 that the boost levels are different.
In Sport mode I reach 1.2 bar in gears 2 and 3. However
in Sport plus I only get 1.1 bar in gears 2 and 3
I find this very strange. Does this mean in sport mode you are
faster because you are getting more boost? This really baffles me.
I don't understand this.
Anyone else facing this?

SDG you are correct.

"With the SPORT or SPORT PLUS button active, under full acceleration, the maximum boost pressure in the lower and medium speed ranges is now temporarily increased by approximately 2.2 psi: the overboost. Engine torque is also boosted by 37 lb.-ft.for a short time – to 524 lb.-ft.in the 911 Turbo and the 911 Turbo Cabriolet. In the 911 Turbo S models it goes up to 553 lb.-ft."

Thanks for all the information. I am fully aware that in sport and sport plus you will receive an over boost, that is correct. I do know in sport plus the shifting is more aggressive. What I do not get is why I am only getting 1.1 bar in sport plus as appose to 1.2 in Sport. Both should be at 1.2 bar to my understanding or at least in sport plus.
Lets say you have a roll race with someone from 40. If you engage sport plus and floor it, this should be the fastest setting. What I worry is maybe sport is faster than sport plus because of the higher boost i am getting 1.2 to 1.1 or maybe this is not normal and I have to talk to my dealer the next time I take the car for a service.
