Cobb vs GIAC
1) porsche covers
2) champion covers

No need to call porsche. Your incorrect assumption is warranties are only provided by porsche. I'll elaborate: Some installers, namely Champion (i have no affiliation, just a customer) do in fact provide warranty in the modifications they perform. They do have the financial means to restore or replace any damage connected with their work. In practical purposes, let's examine this scenario: new car has manufacturer warranty, gets modified at champion, problems after the mod occurred. Possible outcomes:
1) porsche covers
2) champion covers

Many companies have those type's of guarantee's. Bottom line in no way, shape or form does this company or any company for that matter have a relationship with Porsche where they will guarantee the warranty not be voided.
Keep on thinking you are 100% covered with that tune and nothing can happen that will cause you out of pocket money and hassle.
Again we can have this warranty battle until you find your unicorn. End of the day NO tune or tuner can keep your Porsche warranty in tact if they want to void it. Period. Go with whatever tune and tuner you want and feel more comfortable with. The result is the same, a potential voided warranty.

If you are telling me that this is not true then please send me something directly from Porsche that guarantee's with your tune that my warranty can no way be voided, I would love to see it. Them I can show that Porsche authorized letter to all the service managers and prove them wrong.
At the end of the day the second you modify ANYTHING in your car the warranty can be voided if the dealer can prove your mod caused the issue.

Got it. So it becomes a he said she said. When Porsche won't cover it then I get to deal with and fight with another company so they can cover it. We all know how that works. Porsche claims the tune did it but then the other company says Porsche is wrong so that it becomes a hassle.

As far out of pocket and hassle, my experience disagrees with you (i am interested to learn about yours with champion and their warranty, how it worked for you), as i have made substantial modifications (through champion) to a couple of cars already, had an occasional hic up, porche did not cover, champion did in full and on a timely fashion.
If you have not have such experience, keep living in your bubble. Whatever makes you happy, including being wrong. It appears learning is not your strong point. Stay misinformed. So long as you are happy, it's all good.
That's not entirely true. GIAC offers more then software for just our hardware components. They also work closely with AWE Tuning, GMG, and a host of others. The tunes that we use for our hardware packages just happen to be custom tunes made for us. Custom tunes are available from GIAC for anyone that is interested.
You can absolutely do this with GIAC as well, just that the process is slightly different. We have provided completely custom tunes to many customers using GIAC software. Keep in mind that when you buy a Cobb AP (and Mitch, please correct me if I'm wrong), the cost of the AP gets you a choice of 4 or 5 off the shelf tunes. Any custom tuning is done by independent tuners who use the Cobb platform, not necessarily by Cobb themselves. It also comes at an additional cost. That's definitely an awesome feature (being able to have access to custom tune your car) but it also means you have to put a lot of trust in the hands of the tuner who is creating the tune.

In order to settle which tune maximizes performance, I will offer to race any Cobb tuned 991 at the next Air Field event in Southern California. I have nothing more than the GIAC 2 tune and GMG exhaust. As a point of reference, I trapped 165mph at my very first 1/2 mile air field race event. i never lost a race that entire day. What's most amazing to me is that the car runs perfectly. You would think it came from the factory just like this.
Summary is that my car sounds great and pulls like a freight train, but other than that, it runs perfectly every single day.
I have no axe to grind, but the GIAC tune is absolutely incredible. It transformed my car into a monster. The first time I race my 458, it blew my mind. My TTS literally ran away to the tune of 10 car lengths at 150mph. Just thought I'd share my experience with GIAC. They're the best tuning company I've every worked with, and my results speak for themselves.

The Warranty offered by Champion is great for customers local to Champion that have had their work done there, but if you are hundreds or thousands of miles away and have had your Tune done by a GIAC Dealer elsewhere, then you are SOL regarding warranty if Porsche denies your claim because of the Tune, be it a GIAC or Cobb. I doubt anyone would or can dispute that. And that is not a criticism of GIAC or Champion, just a fact.
Warranty denial is a risk you take and choice you make when you have your car tuned.
So Champion offering a Warranty got their GIAC Tune is good for Champion Customers, but a non-factor for every other GIAC customer outside their service area.

That's kind of strange. Andrew and I just had a conversation about custom tunes a couple of weeks ago, and he was telling me about a few local guys they custom tuned recently. Are you sure he didn't just mean they couldn't do it right at that exact moment? Maybe worth giving him another call.
But since we are talking about the GIAC tune in particular, just because a Porsche Service department might deny a Warranty Claim due to a GIAC Tune, this does not automatically mean that Champion will cover it.
In other words, Champion or your authorized installer has to determine that the issue was caused by the Tune just as Porsche did, and the Champion warranty is not a catch all and you cover anything denied by Porsche.
So anyone with a Champion GIAC Tune is subject to the same type of Warranty claim process, and should not expect that Champion will pay to fix their TTS simply because they were denied warranty coverage by Porsche.
And just to be clear, I refer to engine related issues in the above scenario, not a bad PCM, of course, for example!

Yea that's me. I plan upgrading to a 991 TTS in about a year and doing my best to set similar records with Cobb on this platform as well.
