Agreed. The 991 TT and TTS really really needs upgraded intercooling to avoid heat soak and produce big power numbers.

Just curious. How much more efficient are the 991 turbo inter coolers compared to the 997.2 turbo ?

It seems as soon as you go over stock power levels the inter coolers are really sub par.

I don't the answer to your first question but the stock ICs cannot handle the additional heat from the turbos caused by a big tune. This is why GIAC has admitted that its Stags 2 tune (which is its most powerful tune with stock ICs) aggressively (it's words in another forum) cuts boost and timing to keep intake air temps within norm limits).

If you want to unlock the car's full power potential you need bigger intercoolers.

GIAC and Champion worked together for months with lots of datalogging to design a tune file to maximize the performance of the Champion ICs. What I mean is that while I am sure Mitch can write you a file unless he or one of his dealers get ahold of a set of Champion ICs and dyno/datalog them, the file will probably not be perfectly optimized for them.

I am Sure he'll write you a great file. I know they will be pairing the Cobb stage 3 with the ByDesign intercoolers so I would think the file he will write you for the Champion intercoolers would be similar.

installed new Champion inter coolers, i can definitively feel the difference!
Running 100 Oct in race tune mode at PBIR road course yesterday the car now feels more lively at all speeds. The new GIAC tune seems now to match Champions inter coolers perfectly. Iwill detune the car back to 93 this week and let you know!
also, may go to Renntech and dyno car on their new Mustang 4 wheel Dyno.

Makes sense especially given that he and Cobb will be working on a tune file specifically for those intercoolers.

Great news. How was the power at high Rpm's? That is where the improvement was supposed to be the greatest (in addition to the 50 hp increase from stage 2)

It's my understanding that the gain in peak horsepower is about that and that the car will produce just about 600 wheel horsepower. I'm sure Champion will be coming out with exact figures soon.

But that is only a small benefit of the tune and ICs. It's my understanding that the new tune with the intercoolers will no longer sharply cut back boost and timing at higher rpm's as the GiAC stage two with stock intercoolers does.

My car suffered from such severe heat soak that, as I have posted before, quarter-mile trap speed fell like 5 to 6 mph after the first run, ET rose by a half second and by the third Dyno pull my car was down 40 wheel horsepower and 50 wheel torque. Similarly after torching my E63S in the first roll race at slipstream, due to heat soak, my E63 S beat my 911 Turbo S in the next two races

Bottom line is that all of these expected benefits will make your car go faster. And make your car go faster during repeated runs in drag races, roll races and tracking.
