Atco october 7th giac vs. Cobb 991 turbo s shootout!!!!!!!
SDG, with your stage 2+ tune and intercoolers your program should be running a little higher boost than stage 2 and it should not be pulling boost and timing like it did before. Even with a lack of traction at the start the GIAC stage 2+ on Race mode should walk right on by a Cobb stage 2 with 93 tune with stock intercoolers. Your trap speed should have been considerably higher than Jons. I have just installed my intercoolers and will be getting my GIAC tune done next week if my car doesn't destroy a cobb stage 2 that will be a problem for me.
CPI I will be at Shift Sector at the end of the month we will race and see where are cars are at! I signed up for the Exotic class and Longboarder and a every model of Mclarean will be there including a P-1 gonna be fun.

Tom,
no one has a steel replacement kit as of yet. I am waiting for the Brembo GTR big brake kit, apparently they are having fitment issues and its not ready yet. There is a company who in a few weeks I can get there steel rooter and reuse the stock calipers and put steel pads in but they wont perform as well.

Are we talking pads? If so I don't disagree. I just replaced mine because the heat crystallized them even though they had plenty of remaining wear. They were making a rasping sound so we replaced them. It was $700 for the parts and labor, not like the rotor job would be. That was after two events in extremely hot weather though. The 991 rotors are huge and steel weigh a lot more so it would be about 40lb additional weight or so I read.

I also want to see the video since I haven't seen my car on video yet. There were like 10 people recording our run, weird how not one video has surfaced lol
I agree completely. The slips show the cars are very similar in performance. Waiting for SDG to upload the video to show how his car doesn't gain at all, even at high speed. With all his mods, he should have been able to pass by me towards the end of our run. When I drove his car, my butt dyno (extremely accurate scientific data logging capability lol) felt less acceleration over 100 mph.

I have a couple vids of your car. pm me your number and ill shoot them over
WRS, Im talking Rotors Ive had my pads replaced 1 time and ive got a little over 50% left on my rotors. Ceramics are Awesome but they will wear out almost as quickly as steel if you track your car really hard. that is why most guys in my area that know what they are doing will order there GT3's with steel disk. then they can up grade to something like a Brembo steel Big brake kit its actually a GTR kit. So they will get really close braking performance and the cost of the rotors will be 1/4 of the cost of ceramics when they replace them. If you use your brakes to the max you will be replacing rotors.

If it is the run you're talking about you definitely came across finish line 1st as you had a much better reaction time than I did. I believe in that particular race your elapsed time was 10.7 inand mine was 10.5. But you definitely caught me sleeping at the line and won the drag race.

For example John's car was definitely not suffering from heat soak power loss despite his running it again and again and again. That was sort of astonishing to me with stock intercoolers which have much less capacity than upgraded ones. Were the intake air temperatures not getting out of the safe zone or was the car for whatever reason simply not detecting that? Or was my GiAC Stage 2 car pre Champion ICs and GIAC Stage 2 plus just hypersensitive to intake air temperatures and overly conservative? Whatever the reason was John did not have heat soak power loss despite repeated runs and temperatures that got hot. Stated another way, the power that John's car was generating was very very impressive.

When I have the time and opportunity I will lay out all of my Timeslips in chronological order picture them and post them. I have a ton. I had a good runs and bad runs.
Eventually I will post some videos. It's just very time-consuming to go through them on the weekdays or when I have to pay attention to work and family
The boys at RSW got Rob's car sorted already. Rush + Ship + track day = No good. We were just so excited to get out there.
The stage 3's are coming on line in the coming days/weeks so the soon. We are confident that our best effort product on the stock turbochargers, the By Design/Cobb Stage 3 AKA "The 678" will do well!
