Seriously though, why are we going to make all these stupid classes and stages? Does everyone get a participation trophy on 6speed?
Bring what you have and hope you brought enough.
Lol. John's car definitely got off the line much better than mine. And his reaction time was better than mine.

But mine had the slightly faster ET and trap speed at Atco. But only slightly. Mine was 10.316 (with him driving and 132.09 mph trap. His best ET was also in the 10.3s and just a little higher and his best trap was in the 131.9s. Damn impressive for just a tune and catted exhaust. My car is now up about 30/30 from what it was on that day thanks to the revision of the Stage 2+ file that is now in public release

No trophy but it was fun.

As we have repeatedly shown on this forum, there are many factors involved, you have to run it to know. Mine will continue to be run until I am satisfied with it's performance. I do have a goal and it's not 9s.

You are correct. I am sure with all the effort you're putting into realizing your goal you will get there.

He had issues at one event...but his car is daily driven, he drives it 100's of miles to and from these racing events, AND has pretty much dominated every other event it's attended for the past 2 years. Who else can say that?

I believe the red car in this initial video was that same car. I'm told the car had GA plates...so that would make sense since the owner told me his plan was to ship the car out west for an engine build. Maybe this was just a shakedown run?

The red car in the rear was a turbo upgrade 991 turbo s. If it were functioning to potential as many turbo upgrade 991 turbo/turbo s cars in the Middle East seem to be it should destroy any meth/stock turbo 991 or 997.2 turbo/turbo s.

I expect that The ByDesign/Cobb stage 4 turbo upgrade car will be flirting with 170 mph in the half mile

Lol Tom, 99% of the 991's in this section are DD... He have issues in more than one event (look back at his threads) and the fact that "he dominated" other events is because he have more mods than others P-Cars.

Longs car is not "a anomaly", is just a P-Car with more mods

The beauty of the accessport is that it gives each individual the freedom to modify their car in whichever way they see fit and using a certified ProTuner, Boost Logic in this case, and a COBB Accessport they can get a custom tune for that setup.

They are no longer hamstringed by the old "black art" method of Porsche Ecu tuning. They can see the data for themselves, make the calibrations for custom part setups, and review customer datalogs.

COBB Porsche Protuners have access to a vast network of materials, training seminars, as well as personal one-on-one training. That is precisely why we are on the east coast at this very moment, to provide our ProTuners with the customer service COBB is renowned for!

What does this all do? It allows us and the industry to accelerate R&D which translates to making cars go faster quicker.

There is a reason all the fastest 991 Turbos in the world are choosing the Accessport and I firmly believe that if you want to chase 991 records you will see this too.
In the spirit of friendly competition I'll agree with a few of your statements, and disagree with a couple of them too.

I think it's a bit of disservice to refer to other methods of tuning as the old "black art method of Porsche ECU tuning". If it weren't for the tuners who used the other methods you refer to, there would be no one to pioneer access into these modern ECU's. GIAC was OBDII flashing the 991 platform since it was released. We've also already pioneered access into the next generation ECU models that we'll see in future Turbo models (and I promise things are going to get real interesting there). Users of GIAC software ALWAYS have the ability to datalog and monitor the health of their cars using any 3rd part datalogging software they choose (typically Durametric). Your posts often suggest that because we don't provide that ability through a proprietary GIAC datalogging feature that it must not be possible. But to be clear, it IS possible for anyone to do it. There are no secrets with GIAC software. Anyone who wants to check on the health of their car can either do it themselves, or with the help of a GIAC dealer. Do I agree that datalogging with your AP is a great feature? Yes I do.

While I agree that the Cobb platform has a major benefit of allowing owners to modify their cars however they see fit, I would argue that this also presents a certain danger to the owners. Unfortunately there are tuners out there who lack the experience with the Porsche platform and especially the newer DFI engine management system. To me, that's a liability but I can absolutely see how it's a huge benefit to some. We all know how different Porsche tuning on these newer models is compared to older Porsches, and especially to other makes of cars. You can't deny that there are some inherent risks involved with allowing any Protuner to custom tune the car. But then again, if the owner is willing to take those risks, then I guess it's no big deal.

I definitely agree with you about pushing the industry, 100%! Competition fuels us, as I'm sure it does for you too. I think it's awesome! I love when I open the forums and I hear about one of the Cobb cars racing a GIAC car. I get excited and it motivates us to keep pushing forward. Sure...things might get hot and heated on the forums sometimes and we both get defensive of our products, but you should know that's not coming from a malicious place. We take just as much pride in our accomplishments as you do, so to me it's all about being fair and accurate, using the forums to represent our products, but also being sure to accurately represent the competition when we use them as a comparison. There's Apple and there's Android, there's GIAC and there's Cobb....both have their devote supporters and a specific customer base that fits their model. And quite frankly, the performance differences are almost negligible at this point. You hold some records, and we hold others. Let's all just be polite and try to remember that.

I agree on a lot of this stuff Tom. Good post.

We do equip tuners with the tools and knowledge to properly calibrate cars, we travel the world teaching people how to tune these cars properly. We have met with 2 tuners today on the east cost and trained with them. I live on airplanes so that we can make sure that our customers and dealers are happy.

One of these days I think it would be great to grab a beer. Lots of respect in both camps, we push each other to do cool things.
