Rear hatch won't open. Help?

Hey guys,

So I tried pretty much everything I can think of. Flipping the switch, pulling it with my hand, pushing it and then flipping the switch. Nothing works.

When I pull the switch I can hear a noise from the locks like it's sort of trying to open, but it doesn't.

Any clue? Is there a lock circuit breaker I can release or an emergency release solution? Dealer's closed atm so I can't go there.

I searched around, read the manual, couldn't find anything related to this.

It's a 991 Turbo S.

Hey Hamad what rear hatch? Are you referring to the gas filler door? Or engine cover?

Have someone apply pressure down on the hatch cover while you pull the switch. Then see if it releases.

Good luck

I have had mine stick before. I took a coat hanger from underneath and pulled the cable with a gentle tug. It was enough to get the mechanism to pop the hatch.

Tried everything, still doesn't work. Couldn't see a cable of any sort. Where exactly is the cable Jesse?

BM991 is infamous around these parts
I just did this to mine today! Followed the info from Jesse's thread(thanks again) You have to jack car up, to look underneath toward mid passenger side. There are a lot of wires, but look for a steel thin wire. It should line up to where the latch is. Get a coat hanger and pull hard in it and it should pop open.

So I found out where it is, if anyone faces the same problem(although mine wasn't fixed), the emergency release cable is on the right side. Under the plastic cover beneath the grill. Very thin steel line with a tiny ball ontop for grip.

I believe it leads from where BM and Jesse mentioned.

Pulled it in the dealership and the lid still wouldn't open. Left it there, they said they have to tear the whole thing open x_x big story.

Which grill are you referring to? Would you happen to have a picture of it?

I don't have a picture atm, but it's the grill infront of the wing. Same grill that opens when you hit the switch. The one that covers the fans/oil cap/washer cap. Once you open it if it opens, there will be 2 fans, and oil/washer caps on the left, and on the right there will be a plastic cover(triangular shaped), beneath the right cover is the thin steel wire.
