Yes, its true as a matter of fact from 0-60 the 2017 Carrera S is faster than the 2016 GTS, and this was confirmed in an email to Porsche when I was on the web site at the Carrera quick link and saw the S numbers faster than GTS, and asked the question was it a mistake. See message below.
Thank you for your reply.
The 911 and 911 S model are 2017's and the 911 GTS shown on our website is a 2016 model. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

So what happens to the turbo forum when all Porsche models from 2017 and beyond are Turbos? Do we create a big turbo and little turbo forum

Excerpt 2017 991.2 introduction article in Excellence Magazine December 2015 pp 64 - Written by Ian Kuah.....
"Another argument I have heard recently in the Porsche community is that with the advent of a twin-turbo Carrera, where does that leave the 911 Turbo and Turbo S?
Considering the current 991.1 Turbo leaves the factory with 520 HP and the Turbo S has 560 HP, with the latter good for 553 lb-ft of torque on over boost, the answer is clear, and Porsche's flagship model still sits on a much higher plane."
Hard to argue with that......
