paint or powder coat assist please

i was going to paint my Factory 991.2 tts wheels but then was given the slightly more costly option to powder coat. Also understand that to powder coat they have to blast the stock wheel first.

After painting the wheel does that mean its more prone to chipping than powder coating however the wheel can be stripped of the paint and returned to factory finish? and then powder coating would be the opposite,? less prone to chipping but unable to be stripped and returned to factory finish?
thanks in advance

I powder coated 2 sets of mine and they came out awesome. We have s&it mag chloride one the roads here in the winter and it has not affected the finish in the slightest. The company that does mine actually soaks the wheel in an acid bath to get the oem finish off vs just hammering on them with a sand blaster.

Powdercoat is going to be more durable and more difficult to strip off. Who cares about stripping it - will you ever have the need to strip the coating?

Most wheels are painted and there's rarely an issues if that helps. Calipers too. You can also get a smoother finish and more precise color.

I have also heard (not supported by any factual data that I personally know) that the heat cycling that is required for powder coating can compromise the wheel. Obviously, the wheels are subjected to huge temps from braking, etc., but the observation made me hesitate.

200*c is what they are cured at, not anywhere near hot enough to incur any metallurgical breakdown

I am "painting" my wheels when my '17 Turbo S arrives. The dealership recommended powder coating them, so that's what I'm going with.
