My car is currently at Champion Motorsports getting her upgraded 68mm VTG turbos. These are stock housing turbos and my understanding is they are similar if not identical to the ones Sam's customers are getting.

Once the installation is complete, the car will receive an updated GIAC tune with pump and race gas files.

Unfortunately, Champion's dyno was broken when my car came in so I do not have a before dyno. Grrrrr. I will receive after dynos and will post them when I receive them. I do not expect to be able to take this car to the dragstrip until next spring as by the time I get it back it will be too cold to get drag times if the strips in New Jersey are even open then.

In terms of power this will NOT be a record breaking or event car. No meth. No PDK upgrade. No nitrous. I am a rally driver first so the car must be reliable so I my instructions to Champion are not to tune the car to the brink or anywhere close to the PDK limit. I just wanted more power especially on the top end where the stock turbos run out of power.

Car should be good for 660-670 wheel HP on race gas. Or so I hope. We will see when she gets on the dyno and is tuned.

Here are the pictures that Champion has taken of the project so far. Note that we had to drop the engine to replace both turbo oil lines because these metallic lines has corroded (those damn NY winters).

Thanks. I know you've had really good success with your clients running these turbos. My understanding is you and Tom are essentially selling the same turbos and what's different is the tuning. A friend of mine in New York did the Corsa Dragon rally with me with your stage 4!?kit including the turbos for at least 1200 hard miles and his car performed flawlessly.

Awesome brother! Mine is going in later this week for the exhaust and intercooler install. We should be nearly identical. My mods are the 68s, GIAC tune, Champion intercoolers, GMG exhaust, upgraded diverter valves and BMC filter.


You and I will likely started with the same tune and I will be doing a lot of testing with it and then perhaps if needed back to the GIAC dyno for more boost/timing and fine tuning. Goal is to maintain the perfect reliability GIAC/Champion is known for with hopefully with a bit more power. I'll keep you posted and you can try any new files we come up with.

 

Your set up will be identical to mind except I have the Tubi catless race exhaust instead of the GMG but I doubt that will have any real effect on power.

Looking forward to seeing what files you can come up with the help. My instructions to champion are to keep the car on the dyno until it is perfected and to make sure it's reliable and adequately Road tested well.

Just looking for a nice safe Power bump and Be reliable as a rally car even if that means leaving if you will horsepower on the table for events. Don't want to push the car to the brink. That is a rich man's game and I am not rich

Keep in mind, too, that we have your "before" dyno from when we installed the Stage 2+ when it was first installed.

True that but that was with the IPD plenum. I subsequently switched back to the stock plenum so it will not be a true before and after as there was some expected change to the power output with the plenum switch.

Still, looking forward to after Dyno runs once she is all dialed in.
