I don't think I'll ever develop a passion for electric cars but fortunately I'm old enough that I'll probably never be forced to drive one.
8 Sec. cars are Bad A$$!!!
But it'll never have a "soul" like a 911 Turbo. (for me).
I dig the feel of anything that can accelerate like that, but it would never be the only car I owned.

Times they are a changing and no one saw this is coming until it hits the track and do some real numbers. Even a 9.0 in the 1/4 is crazy and a 500+ mile range in a single charge is hard to ignore so let's see November 2021.
I had a few Tesla's, and they were build VERY well, had to drive one home for a sick family member, after spending hours in the car I was sold, it was like the anti car next to the ZR1 and 454 SS Chevelle, with so many loud cars, the Tesla was the no noise car, and sometimes that is a good thing when it also has performance. The only problem I had with Tesla's is at the time I owned them no other car dealers wanted them in trade because they didn't know anything about them
Regarding the Tesla, $1000 deposit, so why not. I put a deposit.

LOL! same here
The P100D has nearly 800 hp (777) and so another 325 or so HP (Tesla claiming 1100) won't get it close to 8's. Remember it will weight something near 5,000 lbs.
This is the reality of their car they claim at 0-60 in 2.3 seconds and 1/4 mile in 10.5 vs a bolt on 991.1 in the video link below. And extra 300 hp might get it to high 9's and would make this race somewhat closer but still no where near these claimed results. Now 1400 hp maybe.

Have not heard from you in a while, hope all is well. Like I mentioned in my previous post, sadly, this is the future. I understand your power to weight rational, but Tesla is well capable of making their claims true, and I don't think that Elon will promote something that he cannot prove or accomplish.
BTW, was at Champion the other day, they said they miss you

Manuel
Hi Manuel, yes all is well thx. Hope the same with you. I haven't been racing. Life is changing. I surf with my son all the time so racing has taken a back seat.
Nonetheless I was holding out for the Tesla Roadster. That was supposed to be high 8's with the tri-motor. And much smaller and lighter than the Model S. Now the timeline has been pushed back a ways. Glad I didn't put a deposit.
Putting the same tri-motor in the Model S that already weights almost 5,000 pounds will surely make it faster, but at "only" 1100 hp rating no where near the level to get 8's. Perhaps high 9's or possibly mid 9's. Again, my video shows how their P100D with already nearly 800 hp does against a high 9's car. Maybe with 325 more hp the Model S can keep up in the 1/4 mile.

Longboarder- I loved this video when you originally posted it- and it's even more awesome now. You certainly shut him down in a big way- you simply walked away from him after 60 or so. Obviously things are progressing with battery technology, etc. But I'll never truly enjoy driving without the howling of an internal combustion motor, no matter how fast electric cars will be in the future.
Enjoy life with your son. I'm restoring an old Mustang with my son now who's nearing driving age. You'll never get the time back when they are grown.
