991 pricing
The base car will be at $82,100 base price. This is almost a $6000 increase over the outgoing car. The S base price is over $96k which is nearly $8k more and there will be zero discounts at the outset at least. I am not liking it. A leftover new 997 for 12% off is starting to sound like a better option.
Not sure where you're getting your prices. Porsche Website shows Carrera List as $79,000 and Carrera S as $91,900. That represents a $3,100 increase for base Carrera and about $4,500 increase for C2S.
What we don't know is what current optional equipment might be standard in the 991 to justify some of the price increase.
But you are correct on discounts for initial 991 sales and current 997 discounts. One of the reasons I went ahead on my GTS earlier this year was the favorable discounts on my car and the expected lack of discounts on incoming model, as well as questions regarding 991 model itself. My GTS is expected to remain in my garage for years to come...not interested in 991 to this point.

I love wjohnson's campaign to let everyone know he is keeping his gts. I really hope you succeed in persuading people not to buy the 991 because that will mean fat discounts for me on leftover models.
Good luck campaigning.

Am I that obvious??? Guess so. But never a bad thing to be so happy with the car you have!
Now my wife keeps telling me how much she likes the 991. I can't tell if it's her ploy to win a bet (how long I'll keep a car) or if it's that she really likes it.
But if my "Keep Your 997 Campaign" works...I expect Reps from everyone that gets a 991 discount!

Great idea crackberry.
For Johnson, I have taken the liberty of making a bumper sticker for you in order to help you on your campaign trail. Feel free to put it a part of your signature. Let's work on getting those 991 prices down and the 997 prices up.

That's just freaking AWESOME. Maybe I'll put in on my car when I go to do a 991 launch driving event!
Genius idea for a stop on your campaign trail. At a launch event, there will be the highest concentration of potential new buyers that you can pursuade. You have my vote for sure Johnson.
