Just read this about the recall and then it mentions that Porsche unveiling new 991 cab with retractable glass roof? Is this a new addition?

Sounds like the word they were looking for is "Targa." That is the same structure as found in the 997. If they stay true, it is a 4WD car so I would expect it to be released as part of the 4, 4S, 4 Cab, 4S Cab release. Great concept.

 

Hmmmmmm... that would be very interesting indeed!
It could be that they are talking about the next 991 in line to be unveiled, the C4 & C4S but are just referring to the heated rear window.

Either way I really, really hope it is the C4S cab since that's the one I have on order... and I don't even know what the hell it's going to look like!

No worries Sid - and I think it is encouraging that you are getting ever closer! Just out of curiosity, why so interested in a 4? Is it only that nice rear or do you dislike trunk space?

I doubt this is about a sliding glass roof Targa. The 997 Targa 4 is about that amount heavier, not lighter, than a standard 997 C4 thanks to glass weight and necessary reinforcements. Even a true Targa lifted out, I would not think would have that quoted weight savings.

Is the 991 cab overall about that amount lighter than the comparable 997?

 

i think they are going to do that Targa with the pull off glass roof - cuts a ton of weight off the old version which was somehting like 132lbs plus over the coupe
