No, i think you can't upgrade to Burmester aftermarket, but an hi fi specialist told me you can upgrade the system making it become something very good...we'll see..!
I would be very interested in the option to upgrade the 991 base system. So please keep us updated!

Yes man.

He told me you can firstly replace paper speakers and some twitters, then, maybe add or upgrade amplifier. You can also isolate better doors and panels just to avoid bad vibrations.

Anyway, he told me you can make standard stereo sound VERY VERY well and really and noticeable better. Obviously, by spending about 1.5000,00 Euro.

Anyway...it's a solution.

Great. Is this a hifi specialist for cars, or just a guy at a general high-end hifi store?

I have to admit that in my new C2S 991 the Base Music Player is really a BASE system...

Some one of u could tell me if it is possible to install BOSE Surround Sound-System or maybe Burmester Audio after market?

just to upgrade that audio who sounds like Hinno-Hit '80 car stereo.

Thank u all!

Where in Italy is he based? Maybe I could bring my 991 from Switzerland to him?

He is in Parma (my city).

He works to customize cars for Hi Fi Competitions, so i think he's very good.

Anyway, they have a website at www.acousticsinergy.it it's in Italian, but in case of need i can send him (or i can give you their contacts).

Just let me know.

Eric,
I am right there with you! I have only had it a week and already it I feel it is, at best, adequate. Indeed, I get a lot of reverberation from the drivers side door or the speaker in the left side dash (where the phone speaker is) under any elevated base. Do you get the same?

I am only glad that, by ordering it, I have speakers and electronics already well placed for replacements with aftermarket once those start coming out - no need to cut my beautiful leather interior - or yours!

Porsche nickle and dime us with all the options/extras and the stereo is just another example. The base system, for example, does not come with Sirius or HD. However, both can be added to the base unit for about $1,500. Since those two features (Sirius+HD) can be added to a base unit, then I would conclude that they are independent from either the Bose or Burmester brands. The Bose 'package' is $2,400 above the base, but with that 'package' you get both Sirius and HD, so that means that the actual Bose system alone is a $900 option at most. You may wonder what that extra $900 may actually buy you, but I am sure that Porsche gets a cut out of that too.

Great, thank you very much. I will wait and learn about your expirience. If you are happy with the solution they offer I might make a two day trip to Parma to improve may base stereo

Forget BOSE, forget Burmester. The best sound system Porsche offers is the PSE .
Anyone know the weight differences with the sound systems including the increased insulation? Or is this negligible?

My other car is an Audi A4 with a very decent Bang&Olufsen stereo system. I always thought it was the best sounding stereo I had ever heard in a car.

After driving my 991 with Burmester for a few weeks, then going back into the Audi I cannot believe how tinny and mono the B&O stereo sounds. The Burmester is worse than crack and there is no going back. It has ruined all other stereos for me.

I got the same as u!

The main problem is THE DRIVER'S door. Reverberations and vibrations. At not high levels of sound or bass! Frustrating.

My old BMW with base stereo was years above.

Unbelivable. I'm bringin' today my car to the dealer because of that. We'll see what they can do with that problem. then, i'll let u know.

Finger crossed.

When on, will the Burmi actively neutralize road noises in 991s to create an artificial enviroment for better sound?
