So are we. It's a German thing, as I am sure you are well aware.

Larry, I am really enjoying your review of the 991, nicely done.

It's been very hard to try and buy a more expensive 997S while taking the depreciation hit on my 09 car while clinging to my highly modded Turbo (I love that car) .

Part of me thinks its silly and expensive .
I wrestle with this a lot .
Replacing your 997S with a new car can't be justified based solely on finances because the rate of depreciation on the new car will be much higher. The justification has to be that you've found something you like much more than the 997S, or which complements your other cars much better than the 997S.

I suggest that you continue to explore the options (including more test drives of the 991, and trying to drive the GT-R), but don't pull the trigger on anything unless you feel a lot of conviction about it. You're trying to improve on an already good situation, not fill a gap, so there's no hurry. Enjoy the search!

.
my turbo was stock so it was like coming from a hybrid sound.

my dealor gave me so much for my turbo, and given i would have had to spend $5k on an exhaust for the turbo, it added up to an offer i couldn't refuse.

I just got the June issue of Motor Trend, in which they compare the 2013 GT-R with the 911 Turbo S. They ranked the Datsun as the better car (!), mainly because it inspires more confidence, despite having a high seating position (which I don't like). Also note that the 2013 GT-R is improved relative to the 2012. I think I need to drive one ...

Thank you Rhonda . I loved your exhaust on my 997.2S BTW . It made such a huge difference in that car . It was actually the hardest part about trading the car in . It was the one thing on that car that stood out for me .

Yep.... only part of what you read! There's nothing like evaluating it yourself.

The GTR is a great car that i never even got to drive . In fact I also never got a phone call back from FIVE dealerships who spoke at length with me .

I won't rule out a GTR in my future . Just not for today .

Gtr...

Larry,
There is a black GTR 2013 Black edition at Wallace Nissan that they are offering at slightly less than the sticker price. I looked into GTR, there are dealers asking more for GTR than this dealer is for the black, black edition. To me, the numbers are great, but the car has no soul. Looks like a 300 ZX, or a Supra or a Mitsubishi 3000GT. I just didnt "feel it." Plus, the ridiculous high cost of maintenance on the GTR and the "NISSAN" badge on the rear turned me off.
I put a deposit on a black 991 with black leather interior, sports chrono, full leahter......but ,after a couple of days and some additonal research I realized I think I like my 09 997 murdered out black on black a little more than 991. Looks a litle "less 911" than in years past. Plus, myh car had the sun roof option, and I hate the way it looks open. Just my 2 cents.
I cancelld 991 and am going to sit and wait. I was lucky to get $20,000 off sticker on my 09 so I can almost get that back. Just not convinced its smart to get a 2012 1/2 model year that is shared with 997 and so quick behind the 2013.................................Id rather wait and let some kinks get worked out and see what develops...........

When I started out looking for GTR cars I was hoping to get any other color but black because i already have a black 997tt . I never was allowed a test drive so after 5 dealerships in my area and one in yours I gave up . I would have to service the car here and if i already was turned off without spending a cent then my pursuit ended quickly . The idea that a cash buyer would be turned away was enough .

The GTR certainly has the fast numbers and the 991 S would lose. I speculate that the Gt3 and Turbo won't lose .

In the aftermath of this I started reading a bit more on Nissan's other cars . I wanted to see how well they stack up .. for instance Altima vs Accord (lots of you tube comparisons) . What I found is that Nissan cars are not cheap compared to the competitors and in some cases lose .

I began to think on this . After all I feel that the quality in all the Porsche models is top tier and it seems like Nissan's lower models are not always king of their class . In my opinion .. they need to be because the foundation of the GTR begins with thequality the cars beneath it .

As for the sunroof . I orrdered my 991 without a sunroof .

frayed is infamous around these parts
I mean this in the kindest way possible, but at 110k-120k cash outlay IMO you gotta love the new metal. Like realllly want it.
