Drove a 991S (finally) and feel confused

It has taken me until today to drive a 991S . When i first saw the car a month ago I sat in it and went "blech" !!!! I got out and refused a test drive offer .

It's a month later .

So last night i read a post about PDCC and started to think as I read the replies . I read som,e more on the manual 7 speed too.
On this topic i felt that the car was built with the intentions to have the gadgets so I decided if i ever bought one I would have to giive up on the original concept of a simplistic 911 and consider the high tech car.

I sat in the car today and it felt very comfortable .. like a Panamera . When i drove it I soon realized it was a 911 though . This was a weird moment.
If I could only remove my bias and view the car as a sporty coupe instead of a 911 then its a really nice car . In fact its a great daily driver .

It was so odd to sit ina 911 which is even more comfortable than my M3.

The PDK is greatly improved !! No more jerkiness in sport mode .
Manual shifts seem quicker. The car I drove had the buttons . My curent car has the paddles . I prefer the paddles .
One thing i noticed is that a downshift rev match connected at a high rev . It caught me off guard for a moment .

My modified 997S is faster than the stock 991S which was somewhat hard to digest but i really liked the car more than i thought i would.

As for extended driving impressions I have none yet . Roads were moderately congested but i did spebd a good 25 minutes of driving in the car .

I speced a car BTW .

GTR is still a contender but I have not bought anything .. yet .
Not sure if i will or just wait for the Turbo .

Walked away confused .

991s via yrralis

So did the test mule have the pdcc ? I haven't driven one w/ that techgadget. Has anyone done a back to back ? Seems the Showrooms are full of pdk, and their getting nervous: calls to 'come on in' and mailograms w/ serious cuts; $20k off on a msrp $123k 991s.

I was happy w/ the 991s ride and all, but see no urgent need to update (rather then upgrade).

PS: FAAPorsche is missed, though I wonder about the legacy: “Design must be functional and functionality has to be translated visually into aesthetics, without gags that have to be explained first,”

Interesting comment that you believe your modded 997s is faster than a 991s.

i'd say walking away confused is not a big reason to buy one.

I took one on a short test drive last month and, while it was plush and powerful, I didn't feel overcome with a feeling of having to buy one. I got back in my 06 C2S cab and felt totally happy to be back in it. I would have to spend much more time in a new one to properly compare it and to fully appreciate the differences. But since I don't have an extra $50k sitting around, I'll avoid the temptation.

Yes it is . My modded 997S is quite nice. (Full FVD exhaust , FVD sofware , Bilstein damptronics , Werks airbox) .

The stock 991 S actually has a 0-60 time similar to a cayenne turbo and they are equally priced which i find hard to digest as well.

A C63 coupe is faster too (in a straight line) and a heck of a lot cheaper and also offers comfort.

I thought i replied to this post .
Can you confirm 20K off ?

The car I drove was very basic . It lacked PDCC and sport chrono. It even lacked sports adaptive seats and full leather .

hlee1169 is infamous around these parts
Hard to believe you can get 20K off a 991. Around here, in SF bay area, there are very few in stock, and 1K off MSRP is the best offer I have got.

you sure? Autobild clocked 3.8sec. to 62mph for the 991S.
i don`t think that the C63 or CTT can match that!

I would wait on this one Larry. You have modded your 997.2 to perfection. Are you kidding me. Stay put for a while and then when the time comes we both can shop for a 991TT (you) and GT3 (me) together and get a nice discount.
