If you select PDK and the SportDesign steering wheel, you get shift paddles. The SportDesign steering wheel is listed in the configurator under "Interior Leather" options. The wheel is $250 without PDK and $490 with.

Running the risk of being accused by some of having an agenda and running against the tide... i continue to think that Porsche's redundant dual button shifters are better than paddles. Redundancy eliminates confusion when the steering wheel is turned and yes, you can shift seamlessly mid-turn with PDK. Paddles may be fashionable but PAG's buttons are better.

I will run for cover now.

I will say that my friend who shifts the PDK in the turns does use the buttons. He thinks they are great.

you are not alone.

i have limited experience with the PDK, but i don't shift in turns so that reason is an n/a. But, with the multi function display in the instrument cluster, i have to say the multi function wheel is really good. i would not have ordered this wheel, but in this short time, i think it is safe to say i would order it next time. the heated part was nice earlier this week.

again only a short experience, but i like changing gears with the shift ****; it has such a great feel & is located just at the right height etc from the steering wheel. mixed with left foot braking, & i am not really missing the manual action.

I had buttons and paddles . I adjusted to both but prefer the paddles . What I liked about the buttons is :a) easy to press in a turn , retains multi function wheel . What i didn;t like is that each button setup allowed two functions (upshift by pressing or downshift by pulling) . I prefer to have one function and the paddles feel more intuitive for me .

I see a lot of guys posting that point to buttons as a (paraphrasing) "track use " option but the buttons are also consideed more of a luxury item . The multi function wheel only comes with buttons as well as a carbon fiber wheel .

To each his own .. i went sport design wheel.

Paddles feel more intuitive to me too. I could never get it right with the buttons. I think I would prefer the fixed paddles a la Ferrari or Maserati.

To each his/her own. I could see where the buttons are better if you are shifting while turning. I personally try not to shift while turning. I also think the paddles are more intuitive than the buttons. I would really like to see larger paddles attached to the steering column so they don't move. I do really like shifting with the stick except that I feel it would be better to up shift with a pull not a push. This is counter intuitive to every race car.

I leave it in auto.... Paddles are useless..... Now a gear lever with 7 speed and a clutch is a different story...

Why are you guys shifting while cornering? Improper gear selection entering the turn?

I only shifted once in a turn (in my 6 speed) in the middle of the jersey devil (bonehead move) and I almost went for an uncontrolled ride....certainly not the thing to do.

However my buddy with the PDK shifts in the middle of turns all the time. He says its so smooth he looses no balance. He just waits for the engine to tell him when to shift and he does it. No matter where he is on the course.

I guess you can say and I'm not sure I agree with this, that one can concentrate on braking and turn in more on each turn and leave the shifting to whenever.
