DE's: Where are the 991's?
DE's: Where are the 991's?
I was as the Metro DE this fri and sat at NJMP and to say this least it was a humbling experience.
I run in the white group and I think I'm a decent white group driver. Steady, consistent, not very fast but decent. I pass a few; I get passed probable a little more.
This DE Metro combined white with the black run groups:
With 17 cars on saturday this was the line up:
4 GT3RS's (almost all 2011 or newer)
4 GT3 ( 2 997 and 2 996)
2 Turbos (997's)
1 Carrera S 997
1 Carrera 4S
1 Targa 4S 997 (driven by 6Speed's KonaKai, who is very fast...he waves as he passes me!)
1 944 prepped race car
1 carrera (with a really good driver)
1 carrera (with me)
1 boxster S with PDK
This group was amazingly fast and it was great to be on the track with them just to see the speed these cars are capable of. We had no trains and We got allot of track time.
There is some serious $$$ here with some of these cars. And it got me thinking.
There was not one 991 at the event. In fact I have not seen one 991 at any of the three events i have been to this year.
Where are the 991's that are so track capable? Now if your going to say its because of their worth I cant buy that seeing this line-up.
What gives guys..lets see these cars in action.

in the second picture I think there are 2 gt3RS's, 2 gt3's and 2 turbo.
great cars and very good drivers..doing the data thing and with a pro coach.

All things happen in "their time". In the meantime, keep it happening in "your time"! Enjoy your season!! Looks like you have a great bunch of guys/gals to run with!!

It was great fun to be out there with them.
I have to say i am really use to the seats and harnesses now and i can feel all the dynamics of the car. Really makes it interesting.
I would like to see a 991 on the track. Or better yet in my run group to see them go thru the turns.
soon i'm sure.

Buckwheat,
Perhaps not. More likely they will be in your rear view mirror...
This is (my) serious track advice which is also good for other things is life which I'm sure you've heard before; "It's not so much the size of the magicians wand as the magic in it........" Remember that as you go to the front past the GT3's or 991's........
Happy, happy.......

Mike, thanks for the shout out. It was a great event, though in truth I find myself less and less interested in Lightning and more in Thunderbolt. You missed one in your roster though -- a stock red .1 Cayman S. He was also quite fast. As Steam says, the magician... And yeah, that pack of GT3RS's were no joke, and the exhaust sounds of their ripping through the track together was a highlight of the event for me.
Starting with my preconception that New Yorkers would be the first to put their new toys on the track, I too was counting on seeing at least one 991 at the event... but no dice. With AG being the exception, my gut tells me we will see only a couple 991's on track this whole season but when the 991 GT3's drop, they'll be at the track pronto, and in real numbers.
My Skyline HD video of the event should be ready in the next couple days and I will post it.

well done video..so clear...thanks...lots to learn from this.
That was not a good 2,3,4 for me at all. But it is what it is. This is first day? By second day I had the arch down a little better.
The the interesting thing is my corner entree speeds (in 1,7 and 9) are similar to yours Lee. But my exit speeds are much slower. And what I get to on the straights are almost as high but it takes me longer to get there.
I need lots of practice on smooth pedal applications.
good job getting this video with all the info.
