Agreed - the key is too large in size. Start button in center console/left console instead of the plastic "stick" in the dash.

Mikie is infamous around these parts
Everyone keeps worrying the hell out of me. Rattles in a car like this? I started with a 914-6, went through the 1980s with SC's, on to 930's, and a 944 Turbo S without a rattle. Even my 996 seemed well screwed together. Then came a 2005 997 Carrera with wind noise! Then no Porsche for seven years because of that experience. My 2004 GT 3 bought used for track days brought me back; it's wonderful. Did they build them off the assembly line? If they cannot screw this car together right after all these years, I will choke them. It's a Porsche, GDI.

And the engine sound: if it does not increase the HP, then it is a fake.

I've had several Porsches since 1996 (14 to be exact) and none of them rattled, squeaked, or made any low quality noises. My 991 is rock-solid. There are no inside or outside noises whatsoever. I think the few complainers on the internet are definitely in the minority. I would guess the quality to be way higher than 99% perfect. Way higher!

And the engine sound: if it comes from the engine it is not fake, it is engine sound.

I had mine fixed by the dealership. Took a day to identify where the rattles were coming from but now it's all perfect. Turned out a clam was loose in the roof and something else in the sunroof assembly.

The sun sometimes reflects off of the silver trim around the PDK shifter. It can be very bright. Also, the climate temp display is not vertical enough. The sun can wash it out. This really is just nit picking. Great car, no rattles.
Agreed on the size of the key. Should be able to make that smaller.

Big time for smaller key and push start button.

I finally was able to push my car to the redline this weekend. Up to now I had been quite careful not to go beyond 4.5k RPM as the engine was still in the break in period. I got up early on Sunday morning and took a trip north on the mostly deserted highway to get to some great driving roads.

Worth waiting for? I think so. The base engine only really shines once you get it past 5k RPM. As others have mentioned, it feels more exciting at higher speeds. Lower speed (2nd and 3rd gear) corners are great, but the car feels most in its element on highways/A roads. I'm still on the fence on whether I prefer my old lower powered 987 S for smaller, twistier roads. In any case, if you're prepared to drive it correctly and give it some revs, the car is very fast and exciting.

No other quality issues have come up since this thread started. I have not seen the dripping water on my ankles since either.

Forgot to mention that I have a problem with the size of the key also. Yes, the novelty of having the fob in the shape of a car is cool when you take delivery, but carrying it now is like having one of my son's toy cars in my pocket. At this point it is just annoying.

AGREED! The rationale that this is tradition from history doesn't meet muster when you realize that it really is push button start except you have to put the silly key in and act like it wasn't engineered with a start system (which it is). Someday they will respond to the customers in this one when they figure out their rationale is hot air, just like they did with the door lock chirp.

One more thing I don't like: the electronic parking brake.

I have read that a number of people don't like it. I assume you have a manual? Not sure why it would bother a PDK owner much.

Yes, I have a manual. The electronic parking brake feels totally foreign.

Smaller key would be great, but I like the electronic brake. Nice to have the big lever out of the way.

Agreed! But I do feel like the manual guys should have an option for a lever or pull handle if they want it.
