Ditto. I use the Costco seat. It is not a heavy duty seat. Not sure what that mean in crash testing. I have not seen any data on it. But it fits in the car well. And my 2.5 y/o fits in the seat well.

I keep the seat moved forward but not far enough that he can put his legs straight on the back of the seat. Was concerned that if we hit anything with his legs straight.

I also have the $40 Cosco seat, but rarely use it. Though the seat fits in the rear, the 991 cab just isn't really a good kid hauler.

I bought it primarily for flying as it is really light and easy to carry on to planes compared to any of my other car seats. My 3 year old stayed in it happily for most of a 9 hour flight from Europe yesterday. I think it will be the last time we use it as he has just about outgrown it.

 

Thanks all. I recently received by Cosco seat. It is pretty weak in the area of construction compared to a britax or something like that. But I was once told the most important part of a car seat is how well it fits in the car and this one really locks in. My Son LOVES it. See attached photo

 

That does look like it fits pretty well. Unfortunately that seat doesn't seem to have much side impact head protection. I'm still using a Britax Marathon with the rear seat back removed in the mine.

 

I could not get our marathon to fit as tight.

Attilas, I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I seem to remember that there is no such thing as a side impact protection certification -- meaning no official standard includes it in its tests. Which in turn means manufacturers are free to milk this aspect for marketing as much as they can. This is the main reason child seats have become so bulky. If it LOOKS safe, it MUST BE safe, right? Parents are increasingly protective of their (decreasing number of) children and thus put a lot of value in it. In all likelihood, though, any side impact protection claims are bull**** or, at a minimum, unsubstantiated.

 

I got the costco one as well and 2 yo loves it. Ill post some pics next time she's in the car.

 

Nice work Los Angeles... glad you got your seat to work. Funnily enough I took the Cosco out when I went to the track and I have gone back to the bubble bum. I am sure my wife will make put the Cosco back in

 

The boulevard has more side protection, so it wont fit I dont think. The sides are much more bulky.

 

Trovan, did your Sunshine KidsDiono hit up against the rear pillar, as Stalker indicated his did?

 

NO, but i think the seats were slightly rotated away from the pillar to avoid it.

 

Interesting. I was just thinking of this the other day. We buy a car seat with "side protection" for a 3 year old then just one year later we put them on a booster with nothing around them.

The best I can do is make sure the seat fits well. Or the seat belt is in the correct spot for a booster. And that there is not really hard for them to smash their head on.

New here, and just saw this thread and thought to share. We have 15+ car seats spread among 4 cars and 4 children ages 2-9. Our most recent purchases are for the 911. Harmony high back with head protection and Cosco booster. Both the narrowest I could find. I recommended both to another 6speeder, whose kids also found as a good fit. Both purchased at Target (we couldn't wait for snail mail when we just came home with a Porsche) under $60. And they could buckle themselves in pretty easily so you don't have to hunch over. Just some options.....

 

Really surprised no one has taken the rear seat bolster out and mounted almost directly to the tub ? I don't have kids but when I took me rear seats out to put on suspension stuff for the track it seemed like that would be the best (safest) idea but then again I don't design child seats
