Better than a test drive!
Better than a test drive!
Today was the day! It arrived at the dealer yesterday, the bra, clear side lights and spacers went on today after it was detailed. It is beautiful and the drive from Delaware to my home in the far western suburbs of Philadelphia was a pleasure. I have taken test drives but there is absolutely nothing like driving your own 991.
The car is an Agate Grey with a black and grey interior. 20 inch wheels.
This is my first Porsche. It was love at first sight when I was 12. Saw a green Targa at Moore Motors in Philadelphia when my Dad was either picking up or having his 1966 VW 1300 serviced. It was sitting in the corner with a $7000 price tag on it....have wanted one ever since.....46 years later, its in the garage!
The acceleration - even with keeping under 4k is simply amazing. The brakes are solid and the steering (notwithstanding the comments I have read) is fantastic, a real connection with the road. Cornering is flat and precise.
I cannot believe how much I have enjoyed driving this car!

Congrats !
Hope you have a lot of fun with your new toy. Your story is very similar to mine except I am still waiting of course.
The steering is just great. Perfect IMO. Never driven a car that has such a precise steering feel. It should not be compared to anything but taken as its own, new yardstick. It gives all the feedback you need - just more softly and elliminating all the stuff you don't need to know about. You can drive this for hours without needing therapy afterwards.

Enjoy! Your excitement makes me feel like putting an order in! I've wanted a Porsche since I was a teenager and now that I can finally afford one, I'm having a hard time deciding if it's something I need to do.

I've had 15 now and I can tell you this is the best one by far. Go for it!

Haha. I like this quote from that article:
When I picked up my 911 at the factory (a long time ago), I asked why the key was on the left side of the steering wheel. I was told this was to make it harder for a screaming passenger to reach over and turn the ignition off during a spirited driving session.
I forgot about the cornering lights until i drove it at night for the first time. On winding country roads the lights provide daylight type visibility. The high beams are amazing.
....my wife thinks I have lost it as I have washed the car twice today...
