My Build

Hello All

Well after searching and searching I couldn't find a base 991 I liked on the west coast so I decided to custom build one.

This will be used for daily driving and will most likely not track the car.

Base 991
Premium package
Platinum Silver Metallic
Back standard interior
Park assist (front and rear)
model designation "911"
PDK
Smoking package

Don't really like sunroofs so decided against that.

Would appreciate some feedback on three things.

Do you think the electric folding exterior mirrors is a good option?

Also deciding between the multi-function or sports steering wheel. Any feedback for members who have had both or either one?

I am not a big audio guy but I do listen to music. I think the base stereo should be good enough but is Bose that much better than the base?

Thanks in advance.

I have a similar build to yours without the folding exterior mirrors or parking. I have the Platinum Grey interior and like that as well. I added the HD radio and like it better than the Bose I had in the 997S. I also ordered the Carrera S wheels and love them- and they are easy to clean. I have the sunroof but almost didn't order it.

Hope that helps.

I got the folding mirrors b/c fitting four cars in my four-car garage requires very close spacing, and two of the cars don't have folding mirrors. Having said that, I'll also add that the FM's have come in very handy at the toll booths on all major hwys in France and Italy. I'm over 6' but still have to lean out of the car to tale a ticket or pay with a cc or cash. FM's allow you to get closer to the toll booth w/o scraping the mirrors.

I was on the fence about the steering wheel as well. Ultimately, paddles were more important to me than the buttons on the wheel. For me it turned out well since the lever below the wiper stalk is good enough so that I don't miss the buttons on the wheel.

It might be a sports car, but you still have to park it. I got them on mine because I'm short and can't see either end of the car.

I'm not sure how important / beneficial that would be, but I didn't order it and I don't miss it.

I didn't order parking sensors because i didn't think i'd need it. i'm sure it'd be nice to have it and useful once or twice but won't miss it.

So I went ahead and place my order.

Base Carrera 991
Platinum Silver Ext.
Standard Black Interior
Premium Package
Sports steering wheel
HD Radio
PDK
Smoker's package
Model Designation "911"

I wanted to get parking sensors in case somebody else drove my car but I'll make sure nobody does.

I also really thought hard about the sunroof but after seeing it in person I decided to not add it in.

Now the waiting begins.

In the US folding mirrors are not needed unless you have a tight garage. Most parking is huge compared to ROW. Paddles were more important than audio control for me. The car is small and the controls are close to hand. With Sport PASM the front spoiler is low enough that I thought front parking sensors would be helpful for tall curbs, but they are useless for curbs and when they work they are slow to respond. if you need help judging the end of the car for tall stuff like cars then they would be worth it.

The big thing on folding mirrors is the night light. I have several vehicles with these and really like them at night. You can't get these without the folding mirrors.

you aren't getting sport chrono for the PDK? it really is needed to extract the performance from PDK.

big mistake imo.
