991 vs 997 GT3 or 997 Turbo
991 owners.....my dilemma.....sell my 06 C2 and buy which Carrera?
1) 991 Carrera S
2) 997.2 Turbo
3) 997.2 GT3 RS
Knowing what you know now about your 991, which way would you go?

991S, but if you think 60 in 3.9 seconds is not fast enough wait for the GT or the Turbo. I can't imagine where you would need more than a 991 on the road, but if you're competing on the track you could get the 991S and wait for you're GT or Turbo with it.

Not a 991 orner but have driven both a 991 and a GT3/ GT3 RS. If it's me, it's 997 GT3RS no question about it. It will always feel more special compared to the standard 991 and the resale will be better in the future as well. If you can swing it financially, wait for the 991 GT version.
To me, a 997 GT3RS vs your standard 991 CS is a no brainer, especially if you are just looking for a weekend driver/track vehicle.

For this purpose, I would recommend the GT3 RS. I have a 991 S and a friend has a RS and every time I see and HEAR it, I lust after it. It just isn't as suitable for daily driving.

Go with the 991. You do not need to get the 991S. The base 991 C2 is alteady an improvement over what you currently have.
If it is about tracking, GT3RS definitely.
I actually find the fact that nobody suggested at turbo quite interesting.
You could also go for a C2S with the Powerkit and aerokit and do a few aftermarket tweaks on it...

Some thoughts...
At the Porsche Road Show (or whatever it was called) at the track last weekend we drove the 991S and 991 back-to-back for just one lap each. Both me and the fellow who was with me who also drove each found a stunning difference between the 991S and 991 - seriously - it was as if the 991 base had two or three less cylinders. Neither of us expected to feel such a seat-of-the-pants difference. So, given the others you are comparing against, I'd quickly discount further consideration of the 991 base car. I've also owned a 2011 GT3 (non-RS) and recently a 2012 Turbo. I've had three Turbos now and LOVE the torque and all-wheel drive, but the 997 Carrera S I'm now driving is still a superb car and I'm driving it more than either of the other two...plenty of power for the street which is where I drive, and with it being several hundred pounds lighter than the all-wheel drive cars it is plenty responsive and more nimble. I did not get enough time in the 991S to fully evaluate it, but I'd probably buy it alone for the sport exhaust option that is incredible and must be experienced inside the cabin to believe. I have the factory sport exhaust on my 997, but the 991 system is in a whole new league.
