My new Guards Red 991

Just picked it up a few hours ago. Of course, it's just my luck that 10 miles later the "oil below minimum" warning light came on and won't go off. I called the dealer and they told me not to add oil and to bring it in tomorrow morning. Hopefully its nothing serious.

Congratulations on you new ride, it's beautiful!!

Did you actually confirm that the oil level is low by using the management system?

Congratulations! Guards red with CS wheels in platinum looks terrific.

I'm sure the dealer will sort it out pronto.

Enjoy the car!

Yes - multiple times hoping that it would reset.

Thanks - I love the 991 in Guards Red. My 997 was Meteor Gray and I constantly told my wife that it was too conservative and dull - not "in you face" enough. This time I was went for a more flashy classic Porsche color.

The car is a 7 speed manual with Premium, Bose, Sport Chrono, sunroof and the 20" platinum finish wheels. It turned quite a few heads on the way home from the dealer.

Great luck w/ the new car. Being a bit aware may be necessary to avoid undue attention from the CT troop.

What did you trade for the 991 ? Is the new ride an S ?

Thanks - they are usually out in force all over Fairfield County. I just got out of a leased e92 M3 with DCT. I had a new Boxster S on order (its actually scheduled to be completed tomorrow) but had been going back and forth between that and a base 991. Dealer offered me a great lease deal on an in stock base 991 - only $37/mo more than the Boxster that I ordered. I could not pass it up. I test drove the 911S and loved it but could justify the added $18k cost. The base car is more than enough for me and feels comparable to the the 997.1S that I had before the M3.

So no trade, sometimes that's the best way to deal. How do you feel about the M now that its a memory ? Yeah the rear seat is bigger but you'd be shock what a pcar will hold when you want to travel.

The 's' added a tall 18k ? Similar order sheets otherwise ?

The M3 was a great car but lacked the visceral feel of the Porsches. I also grew to hate the DCT transmission. I am a life long manual driver and I became bored with paddle shifting very quickly after getting the car.

The S that the dealer had in stock was over 19k more MSRP to MSRP. It had some additional equipment - adaptive seats, black wheels, spacers, multifunction steering wheel and PSE. It was a fantastic drive but nearly $350/mo more on a 36 month lease.

I loved my '07 6sp, but City travel was less interesting . . . Also I find that on truly great terrain the pdk is just more and fun and faster. I fortunately see more then my share of these type of roads. Get that new 991 north of Danbury and pray for an empty twisty !

I live just north of Danbury and took it for a quick ride through Sherman tonight before the oil light scared me back to the garage.
