Really enjoying it, but if I had to drive in any serious stop and go traffic every day, it would likely be different. I get the most marvelous pops and burbles with the sport plus option and this manual, I don't know if the PDK gets the same (probably) but it's just marvelous and I can't really express just how good the PSE is on the 991 (in my limited experience so far). It's truly awesome. I recorded the exhaust and engine tonight and need to transfer it off the iphone and onto imovie so I can make a youtube vid. I have to show off how this thing sounds - I've driven Fabspeed exhausts and AWE exhausts, both were great..but this is really amazing too from Porsche.

P.S. here is a flickr photo set of the car so far (just basic iPhone pics): http://www.flickr.com/photos/3963286...7631458823076/
Looking good!
That PSE does sound awesome... my only "issue" with it is that it almost sounds too "nice".
I know you're 100% right, it's absolutely intoxicating but... it kinda feels like it's missing some "nasty".
I guess aggression is the word I'm looking for.

That said, I haven't had much luck with "agressive" aftermarket systems, I mean sounds great but there's always something, tinging, farting, rattling etc... if I have to take one more mallet to an exhaust system I'm going to freak!

Guess I'm sticking with the PSE as well, which does have the same popping, growling and crackling sounds on the PDK, to such an extend I found myself playing with those paddle shifters like it was an instrument hahaha almost forgot the car is attached to it... and REACTS!

Looking forward to seeing/hearing the clip!

hehe yes..the aftermarket systems can be a little trying. I won't go into details, but though I appreciate the exhaust systems I've tried..I'm just going to stick with the PSE and it was a "must-have" this time around. I personally think it sounds pretty great - nasty and mean in "sport-plus" mode when I go wide-open-throttle and also letting it pop while revving down, but in regular "sports exhaust" mode without the sports plus engaged it is more civilized and less aggressive. Maybe it's just in my head.

Other things I've noticed are that the seats will tilt forward with more of a purposeful feel and click home nicely after reaching for something in the back. Everything just feels more precise and refined, I guess that's been said elsewhere..but it really does. Everything in the car feels really good to me and working with that manual, I get plenty of "raw" if I'm not concentrating on what I'm doing so it's all good, hehe.

The PCM system also has been refined and really feels better and the Bose sound is MUCH better than in the 997.2. Much better. I actually put an aftermarket Kenwood system into the 997.2 C4S I drove (professionally installed, the latest system) and the 991 PCM now has the same satellite radio channel graphics that the Kenwood system had, which is really neat. The PCM is definitely very up to date and though the satellite radio reception in a Porsche 911 for some reason is not as good as other cars I've driven, once it comes through on a good signal, it has been very clear and sounding great to me. Really just been so impressed with the electronics..they are more than nicer finishing on the switches...the internals have really been upgraded imo.

Here is some video/audio of the sports exhaust on our drive today. It's really not a good capture - can't hear the marvelous pops and burbles on downrevs but at least some of the growl comes through. Thanks to my wife for her efforts in holding the cell-phone..hehe.

Tell the wife thanks from the boys at 6!

It does sound quiet aggressive, I like!
That said it's tough to get a clean sound clip from a moving cab... I've found the best thing to do is some drive by, through and off's with the person holding the cam stationary at a corner or something along those lines.

Regardless thanks for taking the time.

Sid.

PS. here's a the best sound bite video posting so far of a 991 (it doesn't really start till the 1:50 mark), but it's a PDK and veeeeery extensive!

Man I just love how those tips thrust outwards when the driver puts his foot down.
Almost looks like the car's flexing it's muscles under load.

Regarding drive by's... my wife filmed it for me when I had the SLS AMG for 2 days but ehmmmm... well... she hit the button twice, so she turned it on and immediately off again...
Your footage was much better.

LOL - my wife did that during the filming..we had to re-take twice (and you'll notice there is some editing as we filmed a lot of "air" hehehe.

Those tips are amazing!!

I noticed the exhaust flexing also and I'm hoping the car doesn't have the variable stiffness mounts as they are really moving quite a bit.

clear side markers installed

Loving this Anthracite brown! The car has been at Metropolitan Detail in Seattle the last few days getting a complete XPel front wrap, side rocker panels (and inside door bottom area) as well as door handles, etc, clay bar/wax and sealant treatment. Passed 1000 miles on the way home and found clear side markers from ECS Tuning waiting for us in our mailbox! Well that is just a good day right?

So, popped in the clear markers and here is my question. The original amber/orange markers on my car contain a clear bulb inside. The clear side markers I put on tonight contain an amber/orange bulb inside. Is it legal to put the original clear bulb into the new clear markers or has there got to be an amber/orange bulb in there? Hmm...

p.s. I could smell the espresso natural leather inside even with the top down on the highway driving home. It's nice.

Yes, I believe it is "technically" illegal to have white colored side marker lights in the US,...so that is why you get a orange bulb. Whether anyone will do anything about having a white bulb in there is anyone's guess. I think the only time someone would say anything is during an inspection,....and even that is a reach.

Nice looking ride Nicoli and good job on xpel as well. I've gotta wait for few months then would need some tips on xpel protection areas as well as clear markers

Well your car is gonna be amazing Fester and I'll be jealous of your LED strip across the back for sure I've never used car dealer "protection" sprays or services but the benefits of protecting nice paint etc with a custom-cut Xpel wrap by a great detail shop is really worth the investment imo. Metropolitan removed the factory covers on the rear sidewells and custom cut a new bigger protective strip all down the sides..its awesome. Just nice to know I can drive this sucker and not worry too much.

Next up is the 9500ci radar/laser protection system. Install on that is currently scheduled on 9/25 and hate to give the car up a few days again

The pictures are from another car the shop did. This is where we plan to put the display and controls.

Agree. These are all great mods necessary for worriless years to come! Thanks for details and keep us posted on how the radar detector integration comes along. I'm currently using 9500ci on my bimmer and it's a winner!
