991 or 997.2 S
991 or 997.2 S
Based on the price below, what would be your thoughts on what would be a better choice (taking into account price and overall car (performance and Comfort):
2009 - 997.2S $67K w/12K miles
* PDK w/Sports Chrono
* Sport Seats full leather
* Bose (and a few other small bits of options..)
2013 991 $92K (new - non S)
(Similar options)
Thanks in advance guys..

Drive them both and choose the one you like. Their characteristics are significantly different and it's all about personal preference. You may have to look at future values etc. which may also affect your decision.
do you work on your own car? if so, i would stay away from 991. it is far more harder to work on.
if not, i think 991 would be a better car based on longer warranty, improved efficiency, chassis and advance electronics. power is about the same on both and I'd say styling on 991 is more modern.
997 does have a good pricing point but that's what happens on a 2-3 year old car. 997 wins in value any day of the week for me. 991 wins in terms of technology, but not necessarily in drive feel.

I would test drive both. The 997.2 S is one good car, can ride very stiff, and then be comfortable as a daily driver. One of the main reasons that I went for the 991 was of my bad left knee, no more manual transmission for me and the extra space in the footwell was a major plus. The 991 is so comfortable and spirited that really has a Jekyll and Hyde personality in the same car. I just loved it. I could fit comfortably in a 911 again. It makes me think that I can get rid of my Panamera.
I have had both and both are great cars. I would look at your budget and see which makes more sense. You will love either one and as your budget gets better you can always upgrade. Your difference in cars is 20k understandable for what your getting but definitely different price points.
I love my 991 for many reasons but I also loved my 997. Can't go wrong but two quite different cars-interior design/performance characteristics.

I've experienced just that and chose the 991. It really depends on what your needs and desires are. If you're a tech oriented guy like me who wants the best and the latest, you'll probably want the 991. If you want the lowest cost, you'll probably chose the the 997 because it's lost the early depreciation. That said, you probably need to make sure it is certified so you can get the extra warranty, service is expensive. If you want to take it to it's limits (track it), there is no doubt you want a 991. It corners so much better than the 997, especially on irregular roads. The 997 was great, but the 991 is an order of magnitude improvement in my opinion.

So, the 991 actually has a measureable increase in width or length of the foot well? Were you able to acquire the distances for each?
Thanks to all for the reply. I did test drive the 991 but it was too short of a drive to really blow me away. I feel your comments along with the many magazine reviews are the ones blowing me away. Thanks again. I will have to lease the 991 if I head that direction.
