HONEST 991 Review

As most of you know the Porsche 911 is my favourite car. In this review of the 2012 Carrera S Convertible, I explore the differences between this 991 and the old 997 and answer the question if this car is worth the money over the new stunning Boxster S 981, that I tested in May ...

I would love to get more feedback from actual Porsche owners for my videos and so I invite you to have a look.

Thanks in advance, Greetings from germany

Great reviews, original camera angles...I like this review as well as your Boxster S review a few months back. Excellent job!

Thanks for the post. It's always good to observe varying impressions of the car. I am intrigued by comparisons between the 997 and the 991. Having owned several 997's including a 997.2 4S and a GT3 I find it hard to agree with folks who state that the 991 takes away from the "911 experience". Yes the 991 is different, as every new incarnation of the 911 has been, but IMO the difference has been an enhancement to the overall experience. The fun factor has not been compromised and that for me is the big test. I look forward to the GT versions for enhanced feel and even more performance but for the time being the 991S provides more fun and performance than I can handle. Add to that its aesthetic appeal and it probably makes it the best 911 ever.

GW, once again thanks for your review and I look forward to the next.

Thanks for all your feedback, guys ! For me as an amateur this means alot. My accent is pretty annoying for some americans, but I try my best to get better with every video I upload. Glad you enjoyed the review and gave me your opinion.

I just took a few shots of the new Carrera 4 at a dealership and I will upload those with a few informations on the car ( most of you won't need them but okay ) later this week.
I'll post it here on the forum once its uploaded !

Greetings from germany, Guido aka TheGetawayer

Excellent review. I will definitely subscribe. However, you mentioned how well the PDK works compared to other cars you have driven. What other dual clutch gearbox optioned cars have you driven? Perhaps a MDCT?

P.S. Your english is much more understandable than some Americans.

So Carrera 4 / 4S have started to show up in the dealerships in Europe? That's good news. Are these dealer demos or are people taking delivery?

I'm looking forward to seeing your impressions / photos.

Nice review, BTW.

Nice review, BTW.

The Carrera 4 will be presented at the dealerships next weekend. I knew that the demo-car would show up earlier ( it was the same when I filmed a first walkaround of the 981 ) and so I went there yesterday and was lucky to find it. It's just a regular Carrera 4 in grey not the S-Version, but it looked really nice. I'll post the video here as soon as I have, maybe Wednesday.

Thanks to all of you for the kind words and feedback. It really means alot to me. I do this since 2010 and started with a 997 Carrera 4 Convertible review. Still my favourite car, I have to say.

Greetings

Nice work Guido, one of the best C2S reviews. I only hope you had posted the first review of the C4S. The one that I have seen, lets just say, put me to sleep.

Cheers and keep them coming!

Thanks ! I wish it was easier to convince Porsche to give me more press-cars...I was really lucky to get the new Boxster from them and I returned the 3rd most popular Youtube-Review of this car with over 100.000 views so far...But all my requests for a 991 have been rejected. I don't know why, but they just told me that they don't have one for me eventhough the press-car fleet is massive. I've been to Zuffenhausen to pick up the Boxster and saw all the cars, haha.. If I can't convince them again next year, I will rent a C4 as soon as Avis Germany can give me one But your feedback should help me. That's why I'm so thankful for it

Very good to read even handed reviews, first of the 981 and now of a 991. Keep up the great work....if I can call it that.

Guido. It looks like you really enjoyed making that video. And I loved watching it. I have a C2S cab and I agree with pretty much everything you felt from your time in the car. By any objective standards the car is a big step forward from the 997. The PDK is flat out genius, turn in is precise and virtually understeer-free and the ride exemplary. But the steering is a let-down and, to bring the car to life often means taking her to speeds unsuitable for many juristictions, just as you observed.

It is less feelsome than a traditional 911, for sure, but a better car for modern times perhaps...

Wenn du jemals Nord England oder Schottland besuchst, mailst du mir und ich werde dir unsere besten Bergstraßen zeigen.... in einem neunelfer naturlich!!
