New Caymen
Did you get a look at the new Caymen? What are they doing in Germany? It looks like a 991 and the S is almost as quick as a 991s. (and does 15 mph slower matter - how often do you get to drive above 170 anyway). Looks like they are spoiling their own nest - why by a base 911 anymore? jMO.

That said I do like the front (and the Boxter rear)... in the end though it's a very little car which is the cheapest Porsche one can buy... sure it handles great, looks relatively good but in the end it's a very junior vehicle and everyone whom buys one inevitable end up in a 911!

Another point, coming from a 997, the 991 moves closer to the super car territory. the 997 much like the Caymen I suspect, will be better suited for everyday use. I use my 991 daily, and find shopping carts mysteriously pushed close to my car, and other passive aggressive behavior from drivers. Never happened with the 997.
Its a nice looking car but as stated in the other forum, the 991 is still a better looking car and for 10K-20k more, you do get a fantastic product.
Each car appeals to its own segment. I bought my 987 Cayman because I wanted a mid-engined sports car. I can't afford a Ferrari, Lambo, R8 and didn't want a Lotus because there is no dealer support to speak of and my Cayman is far more practical.
As noted above, the Cayman and Boxster are priced and engined entry level by Porsche. That said, their balance and composure make them a joy to drive. Unfortunately the Cayman has not sold well in spite of its fine attributes. I'm glad to see Porsche come out with the new Cayman and hope that this new version reignites sales for the car.
It can only be good for Porsche.

Nah it kinda looks like an old Toyota MR2.

. I was shocked by how close the 0-60mph is the 991S at a good deal more $$$. A wide body tells a different story as will a turbo. But imagine a Caymen RS.

Funny I had a very nice 997S my next Porsche will probably be a Cayman or maybe a Boxster.
I test drove a 2010 Cayman and it was more fun then the 997S but it lacked the Torque which can be resolved by Flat6 and LN eng.
