Loose screw / rattle?

The 991 has developed a rattle

Went for a weekend away with some spirited driving. Had the car washed and on the way home when decelerating to a stop down hill....it sounds like something loose rolling around (screw?) from the passenger side of the car.

The car was emptied completely.

The "loose screw" sound isn't consistent or easily reproducible but it happened three times on the way home.

Any ideas?

Detroit Shooter is on a distinguished road
Someone described a noise being made by the door panel. He described the fix as wedging a piece of paper in the front.

When you say had the car washed do you mean went through a car wash?

My c2s rattles all the time and it is driving me nuts. I never had the door panels, but I had a rattle in the passenger seat (back, fixed), sunroof assembly (fixed), but that's not all. There is rattling
  • At certain RPM frequencies (mostly around 1000 RPM, slightly above idle)
  • At certain speeds and road qualities
  • The sun visors (verified, but not fixed yet)
  • The roof light assembly (unsure)
  • Some of the Alcantara roof liner seems to rattle (unsure)
  • A rear seat speaker cover (unsure)
  • Items in the glove compartment (fixed)

All in all, I can hear about 3-5 different rattles, all depending on temperature, road quality, steering angle, etc. I would absolutely love to put an end to all of this, but feel silly to bug the dealership with it.

Thanks for the reply. The sound is like a loose screw or stone (any small har object) rolling around!

I have the car washed at my usual hand car wash place....not an automated car wash.

I have scheduled the car to be looked at in the first week of Jan, Ill be using it over the xmas period and Ill see if the noise persists.

It isnt reproducible or consistent.

Thanks,

Problem solved. A stone was found under the carpet. It fell through one of the vent holes under the passenger seat!
