End of Break In Period, now what?
Hi everybody. I am getting closer to the end of the infamous 2,000 miles and I think by the end of next week, I will be done. Did anyone here change the oil after that? isn't it better to do it, to remove all the iron dust from the friction among new parts?
Thank you for your help!

Ale70,
How in the world did you manage to get to 2000 miles in 2 weeks, when it took me almost 6 months!!
Have you been home since taking delivery???
Not aware of any required oil change, however a few members have opted to do so.

I am driving it like I stole it. Yesterday at 115mph I started breaking half a mile before a hidden trooper.....getting closer and closer to Ticket Day!
I am using it to go to work, and that alone is 70 miles a day....
Thank you!

I'm amazed at this 991's oil consumption. I'm used to Porsches getting 1000 miles/qt but my 991 has more than 4000 miles and is just coming up to one quart down. I thought about changing it the first time at 2000, but now I'm going to wait to 5000.

After all, this is only my second 911..

Porsche says 10k for oil change even after break-in and that is good enough for me. It's not like they are shy about being overly cautious about preventive maintenance. For example they want you to change the bolts in the calipers every time you change the pads (even though mine were like new after 2 pad changes and high temp track use) and in fact they want you to do new rotors for every pad change (again, not at all necessary). Following that logic, I'm sure they would love to sell more filters and give the dealers more business on oil changes but that in fact they still say 10k for the initial change. I did mine at 7k because I tracked the car extensively this year but if I didn't I'd just go with their recommendation. With all due respect to Chuck (who is the man!) past experience here doesn't really apply given these are DFI engines.
Also, to the OP, you should know that our dealer in Manhattan charges $595 (!!) for an oil change on the 991S. It took me a while to stop laughing on the phone before I hung up.
