1. The placement of the fuel gauge is puzzling.
You cannot see the thing without leaning forward, due to the wiper stalk.

2. Fuel always froths during refueling, causing auto cutoff. Have to bend nozzle 180 degrees to properly fill car. (And no - it makes no difference if I fill up a little slower).

3. Rhythmic pulsating whine / hum from engine compartment (at idle) when AC is on.

4. At 2k miles, a new rattle every month is just plain annoying.

All very minor annoyances, but overall a happy customer.

1. I just lowered the stalk or you could raise the seat

2 and 3, I haven't noticed yet.

4. The doors have made rattling sounds at or near the window controls especially during any musical bass or any high revs. The techs fixed it with some felt tape I believe.

Most of these issues are probabl being fixed for the next model year. We just happen to be the guinea pigs for the first edition finding out the real world problems.

But, damn I love this car!

Never buy the first of a new model change. This applies to any vehicle. Their is always bugs to be worked out. Buy a 997.2 GTS if you want a trouble free car.

hmmm... the only thing I dislike, not a wide body . Rattle, brake squeal, paint problem etc, etc, all the cars we had/have does one thing or another. It is disappointing consider what they cost, and for some one that is OCD like me, it is just painful. But it is a complex machine with a lot of parts, overall, I think Porsche does an excellent job. We experienced car that cost a lot more come with free rattle/squeak as an option.

Agree about the squeaks and tire noise with steering lock. My biggest day to day gripe is that I have no place to put my iPhone.

How bad is the cabin road noise in the 991 compared to the 997?
Does it interfere with bluetooth phone conversations?
Can different tires attenuate the sound somewhat?

I test drove a 997 yesterday, and it was loud in there.
Going to check out a 991 soon to compare.

If the Porsche Sport Exhaust is off or non existent, you'll have a baby's room in the cabin.

Even with the PSE, it's music to your ears.

I'm on number 11 and this is the best one yet. A tight, hard riding car like this will give away some groans at times and with all the high tech electronics stuff is bound to happen. But you can't beat the joy you get from driving it.

Seriously....make the mirror bottoms a painted option for $500? Look I have had about 11 P-cars now, 7 of them 911's of various varieties. Porsche option costs are out of control. I make good money and enjoy nice things. I just have a problem being bent over and screwed by Porsche when already spending $100K plus on a high-end car only to be asked for a lot more money to add some basic options. Tired of Porsche taking advantage of us who have been owning and driving their cars for over 40 years.

The coolant gauge - both digital and the analog - are essentially an idiot light. It stops at 194f and goes no higher. According to my porsche tech if the car overheats they will rise

Porsche Entry and Drive would be a nice standard feature. Standard on cars costing a lot less!

Whistling Mirrors! Kind of beyond me how that was not caught during early testing of 991.

Lack of rear wheel well liners.

1. The doors have a MUCH more solid feel than either the 997.1 or the 997.2. There is no hollow sound. They do not slam, you provide the energy to close them.

2. All that is required to get an accurate reading is that the engine is at operating temperature, same as the 997.2. It does not require you to be at rest and take up to 2 minutes to do the measurement as the 997.2 did. An improvement in my book.

3. I find mine to be both very accurate (when compared to a pretty high quaity manual gauge) and sensitive. Temperature effects are reflected pretty quickly. My 997.2 was not nearly as accurate, as much as 3-5 PSI off.

4. Can't say as I did not choose this option.

5. My metal roof has no issues; no rattle, no squeek, nothing. It has been reported that a proper lubrication of the glass roof rails seems to solve any squeeking issue.

Same here: especially the doors. They feel solid and close with the greatest of ease. There is absolutely no need to slam them closed, unless of course you happen to be Herman Munster.

Only thing so far I've found that I really am not that fond of is the engine lid grill. It strictly subjective but it has always looked a bit like a shark gills.. Like the look of older generations when it comes to the rear end..

Solved by ordering a 50th aniv grill.. Haven't installed it yet but hoping to eliminate my one minor thing I don't like aesthetically.
