2000 mile impressions
Break-in period is almost over! I'm at 1973 miles. Close enough right? Ya know, I saw a new agate gray one at the dealer the other day with a glass sunroof. I gotta say, to do it again, I would get that. The Cabs are nice too, but hey I'm on a budget here. (A fixed income??) And I'm basically bald. I'll stick with the coupe. I've been told I look like a tall Jason Statham but I digress.
OK - so the point of my thread peeps. This thing has two personalities, which IMO the 997 didn't have. Maybe you know what I'm talking about. I can cruise in total comfort (and plenty of room), let the thing warm up, and then put it in sport or sport+ and go to town. I can't wait to let this thing spool up past 4200 rpm to get that PSE really howling.
PDCC has been mostly transparent b/c I haven't been really pushing it hard. But...I've been to 105 mph (in 6th gear, take it easy homie) and with PASM to sport it's very solid. And that's on Pirelli winter tires.
The sound system (I have Bose) is improved over the last version. There's also a few minor improvements to the PCM. And - you can put a little compass on your bottom notification line, which is a nice touch.
For the most part I have no issue with the PDK shift buttons...would prefer carbon but see my 1st paragraph...$$ - maybe the girlfriend will gift me someday. Hell she wants a ring, I'm not getting a CF steering wheel.
The car is so much quieter than the 997 - makes driving and hearing the engine a lot more fun. I had rear wing wrapped in carbon fiber wrap, and will post up a few pics soon. I call it "the batwing".
This car is solid: no rattles or squeaks - IMO build quality is BETTER than the 997. And - the topper - I had a hot college chick tell me she loves my car. Peace out.

Congrats on your car and glad to hear it's living up to your expectations. I am still waiting (patiently, I think) for mine to arrive....... It's really great to hear all the positive feedback from current owners. Makes the anticipation all the more...painful
I hear ya on options, if one isnt careful you can practically spend as much on them as you can on the car!

The only complaint I've heard was from my wife, who laughingly informed me that it has a lot less storage space than my Boxster did.
My reply, "It's not a freaking SUV".
I'll be released from the hospital on Monday ;-)

ha! So this brings up a question. Sport vs. Sport +...obviously launch control is accessible in sport +. What else is really different ? Owner's manual says PDCC and throttle mapping is even more aggressive...for driving on a race circuit...dang...I answered my own question but I have only gone into sport+ maybe 3 times so far!! I'm missing out.
