991 GT3 pics revealed
A decent config is going to be $15K of options at least. Sport buckets, lifting system, pcm, pdls, metallic paint, carbon fibre, etc. I'd budget $150K for the car.
The price am talking about (180k) is the starting price for the german market, and here the guys are saying that US starting price is arround 130k. Am sure the price difference is not 50k between the two regions, something is wrong with the prices overhere
Atlanta. The new Porsche 911 GT3 premieres this week at the Geneva International Motor Show. The completely-redeveloped fifth generation of the 911 GT3 occupies the top position among Porsche sports cars with naturally-aspirated engines. With an impressive lap time on the Nürburgring Nordschleife of under 7:30 minutes, the 2014 911 GT3 benefits from a new engine, transmission, body and chassis. The car now sprints from zero to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds on its way to a top track speed of 195 mph. The 2014 911 GT3 will go on sale in the United States late in 2013 and will be priced from $130,400, not including a $950 destination charge.
Porsche's are cheapest in the American market, that's the actual difference ($50K). Look at how much it is in Australia, base $400K in USD.

US always gets the cheapest price among the rest of the world. The other side of the world gets them at at least 3 times more expensive for the exact same car due to taxes which can amount to 100-300% of car value.
impressive!
Wow, just came from the existing 6speed GT3 board and decided to post my comments elsewhere. They're like an angry lynch mob over the new car.
quick background: I had a 997.2, 3.6 6speed silver black (super traditional Pcar). Now I have a black/black 991 (still manual) with the satin platinum wheels (not so traditional Pcar). There are things I miss about the old car - mostly the steering and the windshield rake and proximity (felt intimate). But the new car is so amazing without loosing its soul. So, I am a reluctant 991 convert
Apply this to the new GT3 and I am blown away by what this car will be. It will be as fast on track as the 4.0 RS says Preuninger. I believe that easily. On track the new 991 chassis (wider and longer wheelbase) is so much faster into a corner and more stable under hard braking than the 997 cars (my personal experience). Combine that with much more power and a much quicker shift and its a no brainer.
But I think the GT3 board is upset for a different reason. With the new interior, PDK box and electronic steering (although revised from the base 991) the new car will feel more civilized, and that's a problem for many. I understand that. But we have to acknowledge that Porsche isn't going to freeze development to satisfy antiquated preferences. Smooth is fast. And the new the GT3 will be smoother and faster. If you want a manual box, get a Carrera S with a power kit, or buy a 997.2.
I opted not to get the PDK, but now that I understand the personality of the new car, I'd opt for it. Especially if it were a 4 or a cabriolet.
Last thing.. the new GT3 features Dunlop Sport Maxx race tires... What happened to the Michelins!!?? The Pirellis we all have on the 991s are good, but Michelin and Porsche are like peanut butter and jelly. I want to see some new N specs from France already...

Info on GT3 PDK system from other source:
"Even though the GT3 version of the PDK is 2 kg / 4 lb lighter than the unit in the 911 Carrera, the car is suffering 18 kg / 40 lb weight increase due to the PDK. The PDK comes with a "paddle-neutral" feature. If the driver pulls both shift paddles simultaneously, both clutches are opened and the flow of power from engine to real wheels is cut off. The driver might need this to neutralise the car when it is understeering. Once both shift paddles are released, the clutch engages again. Not as natural as it is with manual gearbox, but aiming in direction."

Nice comparison of the headlights.. Now when can we get them on regular 991s - I'm thinking a retrofit may be possible (albeit expensive).
Come to think of it though, the DRL looks a bit ugly, so maybe not.

The NSX was never offered with 4 wheel steering.
I love the way the 991 GT3 looks and am drooling over the spec's. But I'll be honest, even though I know it would slower in a straight line, I'm a little disappointed to see that Porsche won't offer a true, three pedal manual as an option.

****EDIT****
The white GT3 in Geneva did have Dunlop tires.
