Squeek In Dashboard at 65 MPH

Traded in my 2007 911 C4S for a 2013 911 C4S about a month ago. Car was nice and quiet with no rattles or squeeks for the first 400 miles. Then all of a sudden my dashboard starts squeeking (almost like there is a mouse running on a treadmill), but only when I get to 65 miles per hour or higher.

I've taken everything out of the glove box, set the A/C auto circulation on/off, set the top vents on/off, turned the fan completely on/off, and nothing makes a difference. I know it's not the glass roof (I've read those posts). My wife thinks the squeek is a good thing because it keeps me from going over 65 mph (she wants me to have the Jaguar dealer install the same squeek on my other car too). Anybody else experiencing the same thing?

So Jaguar's a capable of more than 65mph
Just kidding of course. I have not heard of dashboard squeak in the 991 so far. Do you have 'sport chrono' and have you checked if the squeak could come from that part of the dashboard? It is just dropped/clipped in the dashboard so it is a likely source of rattling/squeaking.
From personal experience, Porsche dealerships are pretty diligent about fixing this type of issue, so I would not take anything apart myself but bring them the car to fix it.

Congratulations on the new car and your forum name (the 'S' in mine stands for Serge...).

Yes, I have SC and the sound seems to be coming from inside the center of the dashboard, in the area below the chrono. I don't think it is the chrono itself, but something underneath it. I think it may have something to do with the ventillation system of the car since it only happens above 65MPH. As you suggested, I'm taking it back to the dealer on Tuesday but wanted to see if anybody in the forum had any ideas because presumably there are more people on this forum with squeek/rattle issues than there are folks taking their cars into my dealer for squeek/rattle issues.

Oh, and nice to find another Serge on this forum. I'm not used to being in a forum with somebody else that shares my name. Normally I'm like Cher or Madona, and only have to go by my first name.

I'm back in love with my car. The Porsche dealership found and fixed the problem. It seems this is specific to the AWD version of the 991. There are cables that run from the transmition in the back of the car up through the center console and toward the front of the car. The harness on the cable worked itself loose and that was causing the squeak. It's SO nice to have gotten rid of that annoying noise! BTW, Porsche Cars of North America was really on top of things. They must have contacted me 3 or 4 times to see how the repair was going. I'm very pleased.

Any idea how to remove the Sport Chrono binnacle? I have a rattle there that goes away when I touch the gauge. Would love to take care of it myself without a trip to the dealer.
