Question Fine leather floor mats???

When doing my normal looking through the forum, one of the ads that popped up was for fine leather floor mats. I am sure that these are a fine product and I mean no offence to the vendor or manufacturer. But...really? you are going to protect the stock carpet with something less absorbant, more difficult to clean, will look like $h%# when wet and/or muddy and/or snowy, and likely cost more than the carpet in the first place. What am I missing here? I like to baby my baby as much as the next guy, but?

I'm not familiar with these "leather floor mats" but I am rather disappointed with the stock floor mats on my 991. My 2007 C4S, which I bought from the original owner, had much more substantial floor mats (much more plush with stronger edging). I don't know if the original owner purchased these from Lloyds or not but they looked OEM with the Porsche logo. So is it my imagination or did Porsche reduce the quality of these floor mats? Mine only have 1,500 miles on them and they are already showing more wear by the brake and accelerator than the mats on my 2007 C4S did with 18,000 miles. I'm surprised Porsche doesn't even offer a higher quality floor mat as part of their techquipment catologue.

ML, which style of Lloyd mats did you purchase, and how do they compare to the OEM Porsche floor mats in terms of quality?

I bought two sets. A normal red and a second set in red with black leather trim and Porsche stitched in. They are great to dress up the car as it extends the red/black interior i have. But they will never see a cloudy day.

I think the Lloyd's are better quality. I agree the standard mats are nothing special.

Take a look at page 65 a string started by me entitled " first pictures". The better pictures are at post 33. It also shows the black trimmed floor mats.
