Top malfunction

Left work on my way to lunch. Started car, turned on PSE, started to lower top. Windows down, front latch open, yellow warning in dash indicating top malfunction. Hit the close switch and the latch closed but the windows stayed down. Tried the window switches no joy. Stoped and lock the car hoping for a reboot no joy. So off to the dealer. They managed to get the windows up and the warning off but said don't touch the switch. They will trouble shoot on Monday. BTW on the way to the dealer the yellow warning would turn to red above 42 mph. Said top not closed properly even though visual inspection indicated everything OK. The dealers 10 minute guess is a sensor. We will see on Monday.

Sorry to hear about your issue, it's tough to take on a new car as I learned when my cooling system malfunctioned with about 700 miles on the car. My issue was solved quickly and I hope yours is also.

Well I put 11k on the car before I had a problem so I am not as upset as I would have been if this occurred at 700 miles. The problem I see is if this happens with the too down and it starts to rain. By the time you go through the manual procedure to raise the top there would be 2 feet of water in the car.

Sorry to hear about your issue. I am taking mine in this weekend for wind noise inside the cabin with the top and windows up. Hope your issue is simple and easily resolved. Let us know what they find.

Brought it in on Monday. Called me around 1:00 and told me it was a front top latch sensor/switch. Apparently the sensor is part of the latch motor. They got the part overnight and put it on this morning and I picked it up at lunch. They say it is a freaky malfunction and not to worry about top reliability. We will see. I hope this is not an indicator because the manual top over ride is pretty complex and time consuming. Oh well fingers crossed.

Glad they were able to get you fixed up quickly. I took mine in for wind noise with the top and windows closed and it was a simple window adjustment. Hopefully we our issues will always be simple fixes.

Glad you were able to get it fixed quickly. My leaking coolant fluid problem at 700 miles had me worried too. I wondered if I should have bought a brand new design car with 90%+ new parts, but I haven't had any more problems. Hope you have the same experience.
