PDK quesion...
Mostly auto.
Manual only if I'm in the mood for some RPM (the auto shifts too early).
Intention was to use manual when driving twisties and mountain passes (fast) - but I admit I prefer the PDK in auto when doing this. I can keep my hands on the wheel firmly and and can concentrate fully on the corners without getting distracted by the shifts.
It is only occasionaly that I override using the paddles (while still staying in auto) - and that's normally just a downshift because I can see something coming up that the PDK can't know. I never use the PDK lever - only the paddles.
The only issue I have with PDK in auto is that I have to be careful coming out of corners accelerating too hard while going uphill (as you do on mountain passes) - the PDK tends to like to downshift unexpectedly when I'm pulling 0.8 or more lateral G which causes the back to step out worringly sometimes (always saved thanks to PSM). Note that this happens only on the uphills.
When I feel like rowing a gear lever, I hop into my Miata.

Mostly Auto for me, too. I throw in a downshift from the steering wheel every now and then, the throttle blip is intoxicating, but I am still in the break-in period for 1800 more miles. After that, Sport and Sport Plus with manual much more often.
Just curious...
For those who have PDK, I have 2 quesions:
1) What percentage of the time do you use Auto mode, and what percentage of the time do you shift yourself?
2) And when you shift manually, do you use the floor shifter or the paddles/buttons most of the time?
thanks...

1. I shift in manual probably 80% of the time.
2. Ya know, I'm about 50% between lever and buttons.
