C4S Cab build initiated

After daily lurking over these last months, today I placed a deposit on the attached build. Very happy, but keeping excitement well damped because of the looooooooooong wait ahead.

No build date yet, but I'll update this thread when I get one.

One question. My sales professional was pushing the 5mm spacers hard. Although I like the look, I'm disinclined. I'd appreciate thoughts from the assembled wise forum folks.

Congratulations. I can empathize with you as I'm waiting for a (hopefully) late Aug. - early Sept. devlivery ('14 C2S Cpe.)
As a suggestion, since you went with the Luzor Beige interior, you might want to think about the Standard Carpet Deviation (Black) option. The option doesn't show up on the website configurator but the option number is 24951. Cost: $710.

Hope this helps.

Very nice build! Love the wheels!

I ordered my C2S cab with the 5mm spacers and I think it positions the wheels just right! Another option to consider is the "Steering column casing in leather". I have the red interior and really like the steering column in red as well.. seems with your color combo it's something to consider.

Nice build! I didn't know the sport technos could be ordered with the spacers; at least they couldn't before, as the technos are already wider in the rear than the standard tires.

I agree with the steering wheel casing, though you could avoid that problem by ordering the two-tone black/beige. I'm guessing there was a reason you didn't. In that case, I'd consider deviating the carpets to black for about $700. Also consider the Porsche crests on the headrests, given they'd be pretty visible with the top down.

Not sue why your dealer mentioned 5mm spacers with sport techno wheels! ww007 is right you can't do the combo. I tried and I do have the sport techno wheels. You are going to love them! I too got the steering column in leather, it's a very nice visual upgrade. Good luck and if we are mistaken about the spacers please let us know.

Very similar to my build except 2s, MT. I did go with blue roof at PC (Melissa) recommendation and 2 tone beige/black,also CF MF wheel and accents with some additional stitching. I am very happy with those but this is all personal preference. I got the S-wheels and wish that that the Techno wheels, painted, had been an option - really nice.

On the Spacers, consider doing them as a MOD after delivery, you will save yourself a few $$ this way.

Apologies for potentially hijacking the thread, but my question is related and the OP’s recent experience could be particularly valuable.
I have decided to acquire (moist likely purchase) a C4S. I don’t actually want to seal the deal (i.e. write the check) until later in the year. I think that most of the options I would be passionate about can be found in cars that the dealers have on hand (if not in the dealership then in an easy trade). However, obviously getting everything exactly the way I want it would be a lot of fun.
How does initiating a build affect your ability to negotiate price? Do they take a deposit and then close the deal when the car arrives? How much do they ask for?
I’m thinking that if I start the process now, the car would arrive at about the time I’m ready to make the purchase.

All thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

We are doing a custom build of a 2014 C4S cab after much looking. Getting 8% off MSRP based on my putting 10% down.

Don't mind the hijack. Basically, I negotiated a % off (it's in writing,) then left a $5K (3%) deposit to start the process.

I am returning to the brand after a 3-year absence and decided I wanted it to be my car/my way. My prior 2 Porsches (which I loved) I bought off the lot. In terms of trading for one, more dealer inventory exists on the East Coast and Cali than here in the mountains, so you may succeed in a dealer trade in the fall. In my case, there are very few 2013 DBM/luxor beige C4S Cabs to be had based on the search my dealer did; each of them had an option problem for me. So, rather than play trade roulette in the fall, I spec'ed my own.

I hope that answered your questions. I think Richard911's reply is also good.

Congrats on the decision to order. I placed an order a few weeks ago for a 2014 C4S and was given a delivery date of late November. Looooong wait indeed!

Learned my car will complete production on September 13th. Yes it's a Friday. No I'm not superstitious.
Changed the attached build to two tone black/luxor interior.
Expect delivery late in October.

My car is on the Blue Ridge Highway which should dock in Davisville, RI tomorrow. It is expected in Houston on 10/2, so I should take delivery about a week after that in Colorado. I can't believe the wait is nearly over. Of course, I need to travel on the 10th, so I'm hopeful to snag the car in advance of my trip.

Just my opinoin. Blue roof looks much better, especially as you have blue wheels, also agree with black/beige and dev carpet. Even better, espresso/cognac in NATURAL Leather. Beige hard to keep clean!!! I would add leather to the back of the seats and the crests on headrests. Just my opinion. My C4S cab order has these items and I consider them almost essential. I worry about Burmeister repairs in future - I think BOSE or no upgrade. I do not believe PDCC will be noticable. I added Sport Design package.
Just my $0.02.
