Number 7 is the interesting one. People so often say, oh the 991 is a bigger, heavier GT car now. Well no, it's actually lighter than the 997.

I traded my 09' 3.6 997 for a 2012 3.4 991. The 991 is indeed a better highway cruiser, more stable and has a nicer interior. However, far and away I enjoyed driving the 997 more. The steering and raw feel made me feel much more connected to the road. My 991 gets me from point A to point B in comfort but I don't love it. I am actively looking to replace it with either an 09 turbo or an 07-11 GT3, the last of the real Porsches in my opinion. I can't speak to the PDK in the 997 vs 991 as both my cars are manual.

 

I had a similar experience with a 2012 997.2 that I traded in. It's a toss up, seriously. The 997.2 is much more sports car like. The 991 is more a daily driver...quiter, more refined, smoother...that's why I ultimately chose the 991.

Depends on needs and what exactly you are going to use it for.

Though in the end I still agree with you that even at 90k unless it is after tax 90k I wouldn't be buying a 100k car, let alone leasing it.

To the OP: I thought the same as you to lease then buy or maybe lease again and then buy when I felt more comfortable about the purchase, but they told me doing that is like financing the car with a 5-7% interest rate. So unless your credit sucks and you are going to get that rate anyways, I wouldn't do it.

EDIT: I didn't see the explanation on page 2 when I made this post.

In the end I'm probably going to pick up a fully optioned m4 for 76k or if the right CPOd 991 C2 or C2s comes along I will pull the trigger on one of those. Though the Macan Turbo is still very tempting.
