Do You Have Voice Control? Like it or Not?

With the sports steering wheel I lose all the multi-functions of the other wheel so I opted to add voice control. I also figured that using VC would be a lot less distracting than to hunt for the right buttons to push or stalks to twist. My wife is especially stymied by controls so I also thought that it would benefit her to be able to state what she wants. My order is supposed to lock tomorrow so any feedback as to your experiences with VC would be most helpful.
Note how I highlighted that: Those of you who didn't get VC and who are happy with your stalks and buttons are of no help in this discussion as I'm not asking for a comparison between the two options. I'm asking for owners with VC if they like it and use it and have success with it or are critical of it.

Thanks.

I like mine, but I also actually use it. The one command I keep forgetting is "stop route guidance". I keep saying "cancel navigation" and she just doesn't get it

I absolutely love the VC. I have to admit with Nicoli-that's the most frequent command I use. It worked for me the first time as both my bmw and lexus use the same command "stop guidance"

VC controls your phone book etc as well. You can also set it up to adapt / train with your voice. I have not fully explored it yet...but again it's worth it with hands free operation.

BTW...I also got sport design steering wheel.

I was just happy Porsche even offered it activated on their cabs - would you believe the 2013 Audi S5 cab has the hardware/software, but it comes to the USA de-activated. The dealership couldn't (or didn't know how, or wouldn't) activate it, so I had to use a Ross-Tech Vag-Com cable hooked up to the OBD-II port and dig through the system software of the Audi MMI. (which was pretty cool to play with..you can alter the DRL's and activate video-in-motion to play DVD's while driving etc)

Anyway, now I have a Vag-Com cable I'm not using and voice control anyway. hehe.

I have the SD steering wheel and added VC post delivery. VC should be standard as it does have (to me) quite a bit of value when making calls and it is actually faster to enter nav destinations this way rather than manually. It should extend to A/C controls and such and allow for faster scrolling for ipod but for what it is it is very robust; much more so than our SUV. I recommend it.

Since Audi and Cabriolet were mentioned, I thought I'd point out something (OT) the R8 Spyder has that may or may not be available in the 991 Cab: tiny button microphones in 2 strategic places on the shoulder belt that completely filter out ambient noise, even with the top down and the engine roaring (and believe me, that V10 really roars!). The mics are only for use with your cell phone, not for VC, but a very clever item, nonetheless.

I'm convinced, guys, that my choice of VC was a good one and will leave matters well enough alone. Thanks for your feedback.

I was not aware that you could add it after, mind if I ask what that costs?

I don't remember exactly. Always cheaper to buy OEM but in this case all in all maybe slightly over $1k. The module came thru Suncoast and then about 1.5 hrs of bay time for install and programming. Biggest hassle was getting the code from Germany as they were out on holiday when the module was installed so I had to take the car back.

Don't have it....yet, but wish I did!

Fiddling with the screen controls, menus and sub menus while driving is a damn safety hazard.

Porsche should include it as standard, just like many other so called 'options'.
