Sold my 991 !
Sold my 991 !
I received my car Feb 12 (after a painful few months waiting) and was one of the first few to receive the 991 model. With a some what heavy heart I will disclose that 16 months and 32,000 kms later I sold it today. For those interested I paid full MSRP for it and in a private resale got slightly over 78% back.
I was planning to keep it till Sept-Oct but my new car delivery got preponed to July end. So I put it up sale and it sold in 3 days, the very first viewer took it.
I am happy to say that I drove the hell out of it and it gave me much pleasure. This was my first porsche (probably not my last) and my first sports car also.
All the best to you guys out there who are either enjoying your 991 or waiting anxiously to receive it.

If it is not inappropriate to do so and the moderators have no issues with, I will post the pics here once I have the car.
Probably late July-early August. Here they actually fly the car in, saves a few weeks.
Regarding my 991 I should mention that upon the mandatory safety inspection required to transfer title, the rear two tires had to be replaced. Is it normal for these tires to last about 20K miles or 32K kms?
Of course I do live in an extremely hot climate, plus I was never shy to put the car in sport plus and let it loose at every opportunity that it was safe to do so. I did end up getting 9 speeding tickets during this brief 911 ownership. My worst record by far for any car I have owned. Lucky I don't live in the US or Europe or I probably would no longer have a license. The tickets were all by speed cameras, whereby just pay fine online & forget it.

Sounds about right. With fairly aggressive driving the rear tires will be eaten up pretty quickly

Interesting, I never heard that the rating was directly related to miles???
This from Wiki:
The Treadwear Grade describes how a tire manufacturer views the wear of a given tire. In theory, this means that a tire with a 200 grade will wear twice as long as a tire with a 100 grade. However, tire manufacturers are not under any obligation to grade a tire based on the test results, except to say that they can not overstate the grade. This is enforced by NHTSA requiring documentation to justify any assignment of a grade on a tire.
As Course Monitoring Tires have changed, their treadwear grades have changed to numbers considerably higher than 100. As a result, it would be incorrect to say that a tire with a treadwear grade of 200 gets twice the life of the Course Monitoring Tire.
Congrats! i was in Dubai last week and i rented a 458 Italia for a day
its not my type of car but i was interested in trying it for a day
i can state that you will love the car, its more of an eye catcher than the 991 as well
only thing i really hated was the confusing steering wheel, but who cares? you will enjoy the experience and forget that immediately

Also who knows I may be back to porsche in the future.I realize this forum is not for the admiration of a 458 and I probably all here may not be happy to see the pics but since I have your green light I will certainly post them.
