3. Drone and resonance with valves open and closed
4. Torque below 3000 rpms

Have you given our Valvetronic Exhaust System any thought?

Hi Nick,

I am looking only for an X pipe as I'd like to keep my side mufflers.
I don't trust videos, how would you describe your X pipe sound ?

Thanks

I have a 2016 GTS 991 and love the car. I ordered it with the PSE. Well after hearing the AWE in person, that is what I went with. Porsche installed it, and its killer! I listened to Akra and many others. To me this has the perfect tone. Here is my car below!

Fantastic sound!!!it seems high pitched which reminds me of F1 cars. I wish I could hear it in person before buying. Have you also tried the Cargraphic X pipe? Right now I am highly hesitating between these two systems.

To me, a boxer engine sounds best on that higher tone. And a big V8 sounds good with the lower tones. Otherwise the exhaust note I think on a Boxer engine can sound kinda flubby. Great at some rpms, but not good at all rpms.

I am a musician and very picky on tone. But again, everyones ears are different. The AWE is quiet enough at cruising to talk on blue tooth in your car, or down right awe inspiring with your foot into it with the flaps opened up.

The other makers are great too. But I went with what my dealer and many Porsche enthusiasts thought sounded the best in my area. I want something that goes from mild to wild. (:

We have the x-pipe only option as well for PSE cars. How would I describe the sound?? Harmonic! When the valves are open it SINGS and when they are closed it is still more aggressive than stock and perfect for daily driving. The video I previously posted will sound very similar during the valve open portion of the video. The added benefit of the Valvetronic exhaust system is the more aggressive sound while the valves are closed. Not to mention our pricing is extremely competitive and I am happy to offer additional incentives to forum members via PM.

Another vote for the awe setup! I had the pse which is cool but I wanted something just a little bit more aggressive. I researched every option for the c2s and was still on the fence since I could only hear sound clips.

Hearing the awe in person is something else, I'd say the tone is almost exotic. If anyone is in so cal and wants to hear it in person let me know!

Thanks whoadude. What do you mean by exotic ? A bit Ferrarish?
How loud is AWE vs PSE : 50%?
How is the sound inside the cabin with windows up?
Are the pops, cracks and burbles increased Significantly inside the car?

Cheers.

I found the tone exoticish if you get what I mean. It's has mids and highs that remind me of it.

With the pse you only get some good sound in the upper rpm ranges and if you're driving like that all the time you'll be in trouble. The rest of the time it's quite tame even with the pse button on imo.

I think the best part of the awe is the connection to the factory pse button. I can tell more of a difference when using the pse button with the awe vs the factory pse. Cracks and burbles are very pronounced when the button is hit and tame when off. Cabin noise is similar to factory pse off but more aggressive w pse on without having to rev to redline which is what I wanted.

I actually find myself rolling down the window more just to hear the exhaust now!

Not having to rev to redline to hear the PSE this is exactly what I am looking for. I would like to enjoy the sound even below 5000 rpms. Apparently AWE X pipe does it perfectly.
Have you ever heard Cargraphic or FVD Xpipes?

The AWE works with your factory PSE if you have that option. On my 2016 GTS, they removed the factory unit and replaced it with the AWE swtichpatch unit. I kept my factory set up in case of a trade down the road, if the new owner wants it. They actually did it all without removing the rear bumper to.

The AWE to me, like the poster above said, does sound a bit more exotic to my ears. It doesn't sound flubby in the lower register either. It's more mid to highs that it hangs in I think. But all excellent tone. Just like a high output 6 cylinder should be.

I think when you try to capture to low of a sound in these engines, they sound like a sick v8. You have to capture the essence of the boxer engine. AWE has nailed it.
