Carrara White 991 - Mod Diary

14 Attachment(s)
Hey Guys!

7/30/2013
Finalized my transaction. Did some research here and wanted to get springs and spacers right away.

8/5/2013
Got my Carrara White delivered :) Car looked low enough; wheel gap wasn't atrocious.

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ine=1376711953

8/10/2013
Decided to hold off on springs and spacers. Instead went cosmetic route. Ordered:
Clear Reflectors - $62.71
Clear Tail Lights - $518.95
Black Tint Film - $9.95 (I originally wanted the smoked reflector pre-cut kit, but why spend more for more work. I discovered getting an entire roll is cheaper and also easier to install.)
X-ACTO Knife - $4.77 -

8/13/2013
clear reflectors arrived and installed; followed this DIY on youtube:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ine=1376711953

8/15/2013
tint film arrived; followed eBay auction instructions; installed

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ine=1376711953

8/20/2013
Got my Clear Tail Lights today!

I tried following this post for the installation. It didn't help me @_@. So here is my 991 Clear Tail Light Installation DIY ...it worked for me:

Unboxed the Tail Lights
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ine=1377047332

Raise the Rear Spoiler. Pop up The Cap with a Flathead. Do the same for the right side.
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ine=1377047332

You Will Need a T25 to Unscrew These Two TorX Screws
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ine=1377047332

Not Enough Room for Regular ScrewDriver so I Assembled This Wrench Tool - It Did the Job
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ine=1377047332

After You Unscrew Both Bolts, Just Pull Tail Light Towards You and It Comes Right Off
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ine=1377047332

Repeat Process for Right Tail Light
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ine=1377047332

All Set!

8/22/2013 - Polished Quad Tips ordered from Fabspeed. Got the best price direct from David@Fabspeed.

9/06/2013

Got my Fabspeed polished tips.

To take off my 991 stock tips, I used an E12 reverse torx socket. You can get a set here:

You could have used a 10mm 6 point wrench to remove the 991 stock tip. You didnt have to spend the $ on the torx set. The Fabspeed tips use a 13mm wrench. I'm sure you know that part now. All the best!

Here's the result:

Home Depot
Plastidip - $5.95 + tax
Painters Tape - $3.50 or something

eBay 911 Badge - waited for my eBay bucks to kick in and got this one from the UK because the other one in the U.S.had numbers individually taped so I'd had to line it up manually. Also the UK is cheaper.

My car is a duplicate of yours, plus I bought from PP. Who is your salesman?

Foscam cameras, I use the same, but my wap isn't in the garage.

You need some of these

genpop3 08-16-2013 09:56 PM

Question for both of you as fellow Carrara White brothers: would you guys get Chrome or Black Chrome Quad Tips from Fabspeed? I am leaning towards Black Chrome but worried it'll just disappear under the black diffuser.

Are your wheels Platinum Satin as well? They look much darker and better on your car!

You need some of these Amazon.com: IPCW CWB-194CA Chrome/Amber Mini Waffle Mount 194 Bulb - Pair: Automotive

Ah nice, I was waiting to make use Amazon $5 of $25 Promotion. Thanks!

My Sales Rep is the one and only Keith Beitter, Internet Sales Manager. If Park Place keeps it up, I'm never getting a car locally ever again; the price difference is crazy.

Keith also provided great service :)

I think I'd go the regular chrome route, exactly because of the worry you expressed.

Yes they are Platinum Silk Gloss. Pic was taken inside, with lousy lighting. That's why they appear darker.

I love it! Highly recommended on Carrara White. A bit reminiscent of Aston Martin tail light.

Thanks!

That would set off the contrast nicely and also complement the rear tinted reflectors. But the look is a bit too aggressive for me haha.

empunker 08-23-2013 07:17 PM

Looking good. A set of black wheels with a polished lip would be the perfect complement.

Can you PM me with the % discount you received? I am going to order a lightly optioned (probably White!) 991 this winter if I can't find a good deal on a used one and would consider going outside Chicagoland if it made sense.

Beautiful car, needless to say....:)

Vic55 08-24-2013 12:13 PM

Love the clears--- can you disclose the price? (sorry if you did and I missed it)

Edit: I have a 4s so the center would be red still- that would look odd wouldnt it??

Yeah, I don't think it would look good that way . . .

kosmo69 08-24-2013 02:09 PM

How about front spoiler lip and
Sharkwerks bypass exhaust?!

Sure I'll PM you. You should aim for last few days of the month, so it's coming up!

Hey Vic55,

I did post it but no biggie at all. Here it is again (click blue link): Clear Tail Lights - $518.95 shipping included from Florida

I would tint out the center red portion as well otherwise I think it would look a bit mismatched haha

I'm definitely thinking about a front spoiler lip but then I'd be tempted to lower the car. I really love not having to angle any more, I find myself going to a lot more places lmao. Previously, I'd avoid going to places if the entryway were too steep or if the streets had too many bumps/potholes. That's no way to live hilarious

As for the exhaust not sure about installing it on a leased car haha

Love the look of your car! It really comes together nicely! You should wrap the roof! I had mine done a couple of weeks ago and I think it came out great. Looks nice on the white with dark wheels!

AoshichanX, very nice car. A bit biased as I also have a white 991 with the same wheels. Love your upgrades and appreciate the detail of your changes. Your diary shows the twin tip exhaust was purchased through Fabspeed. Went to their web page and I read that they will only fit an S exhaust system. But based on your post it appears it was as simple as pulling off the wide tips and reinstalling the twin tips. Is that correct? And thank you again for your post.

lunarx 10-14-2013 09:56 AM

Your white car would look better with Silver wheels.
You should trade wheels with me.

Those clear tails really work on your car.

For the Base 991, we share the same as the 997 tips, that's what Fabspeed said.

These will work for the Base 991:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fabspeed-Por...8774ac&vxp=mtr

These will work for the 991s or 991 base w/ PSE:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fabspeed-Por...c04866&vxp=mtr

I wouldn't worry about being confused by Fabspeed's website. They sent me the wrong tips twice...https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-fabspeed.html

and yup just unscrew the original wide tips, pull off, and put the new tips in :)

Great thread! Very nice mods! I too really like that black lettering! Plasti-dip FTW!! And the best thing is it just peels off when you want to change it!

What was the factory steering wheel that came with the car? Thanks!

Snowczar 12-20-2013 03:24 PM

I thought all 2013's in White were just that "White"? Carrera White is the name of the 2012 white? Paint code on my 2013 is 0Q which is not Carrera White but just White.

jasperxli 12-21-2013 01:23 AM

nice write up! love your car, photos do not do it justice!

hawc 12-21-2013 07:14 AM

Just curious why you didn't order the steering wheels with the paddles at the time of purchase? Surely aftermarket on this item isn't cheaper. I replaced my steering wheel aftermarket and it was over $1,000. This option is only about $500 at time of purchase.
