2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray vs. 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera S
Regarding jackwagon comments, I can tell you don't drink Scotch. Your mistake.
Let me see if I can make a few more of them and send you in another tailspin. Yeehaw. The argument about the 911 vs the vette is decades old. Have yet to see anything new. Actually my thought is:
Now what I do find amazing is that the 911 has less horsepower and still has better acceleration. That says a mouthful, not to mention other factors like build quality, crappy AC Delco parts, blah, blah, blah. After years of driving on the Autobahn, I would never trust a vette with my life. Others can do it and I'm okay with it. Again all of this has been said before and unfortunately will be said again many, many times. Boring.

Same with 1/4, braking and skid pad (on test just reviewed). Is there something I missed?
I actually didn't think that was disputable. The 911 offers a little more nice things (comfort may not be one of them), though.
ithe vette currently running its paces at the Ring. It will be interesting to see if it can post a better time than the C2S' 7:40. IIRC that car had, PDK, PDCC, CCB.
I have a hunch it will be close.

For those that prefer speed above all else - the Corvette is tough to beat.
Carrera does 0-60 in 4secs, Corvette does it under.

I will never understand how presumably successful, intelligent people get so wrapped up in whose hunk of metal is better.
Mmmmm I'm guilty as charged sometimes I must admit. Let's call it passion ? ;-)
Personally I love that the new Corvette is doing great! It is a fantastic car for the price and I can only imagine what monsters the Z06 and the ZR1's will be. Advances like these are good for us Porsche fans, it means Zuffenhausen has to be very vigilant. Competition is great - it benefits everybody. One of the reason the 911 always has to bring its A game is the stiff competition otherwise they could just relax based on their history and pedigree alone.
Are people here so insecure that they have to worry about the Vette being a tad faster? I didn't buy the 911 for the numbers - I couldn't care less. And I'm happy to see that Chevy is wearing their try-hard pants. It is undeniable that these cars are a great bang for your buck, and they have a well deserved place in automotive history.
Looking forward to the ZR1!

The corvette stingray and the 911 are as similar as they are different. I recently sold my first 911 which I bought CPO 3 years ago. A 2009 C4S with PDK. Great for freeway gridlock and learning on the track and for inclement weather. But I got the track bug and was fortunate enough to get a 997.1 GT3 and love driving it. The manual is more engaging and the pdk even with sport plus manual and paddle shifters not so much.Never thought about corvette before but the performance and front hood view looks exotic. The rear not so much. But I ordered one. A manual Z51, magnetic ride etc. white, red full leather interior. Keeping the GT3. Love the similarities and the differences. Price was definitely a big factor. The 991 prices well over 120K a definite negative factor. Will be interesting. Will be fun. New DD and occasional track toy #2. Has weather mode and hill holder on the manual which helps in Seattle.
