2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray vs. 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera S
The corvette stingray and the 911 are as similar as they are different. I recently sold my first 911 which I bought CPO 3 years ago. A 2009 C4S with PDK. Great for freeway gridlock and learning on the track and for inclement weather. But I got the track bug and was fortunate enough to get a 997.1 GT3 and love driving it. The manual is more engaging and the pdk even with sport plus manual and paddle shifters not so much.Never thought about corvette before but the performance and front hood view looks exotic. The rear not so much. But I ordered one. A manual Z51, magnetic ride etc. white, red full leather interior. Keeping the GT3. Love the similarities and the differences. Price was definitely a big factor. The 991 prices well over 120K a definite negative factor. Will be interesting. Will be fun. New DD and occasional track toy #2. Has weather mode and hill holder on the manual which helps in Seattle.
Kewl, I am thinking the same. The Base Vette z51, w/ cheaper consumables and track valid warranty is getting my attention.

Thanks. I know you briefly had a 2007 GT3 too so you know about track fun in different cars. About 3-4 months ; still in the order received/placed stages. Meanwhile DD the 3 ( may put my winter sottozeros in oz rims I used for my C4s. Fronts fit fine but rear offsets are off. Getting some new oz from Damon at tire rack to save? money. ? If salt on road or icy will drive Lexus SUV . Wife doesn't like to drive her Boxster in such conditions. Fortunately my commute is easy.
I cannot comment on the ownership and opinions, as everyone perceives these differently. I prefer accessibility to exclusivity (less opportunities to maintain a car).
The fact that there is not an Audi dealership within 60+miles of my house kept me from an R8. The fact that the Nissan dealership within 3 miles is GT-R certified made my decision EXTREMELY easy. When I had my last 911, there was a dealership 2 miles from my house - but couldn't stand anyone there. I was out.
I've got 2 Chevy dealers near me. Makes this very appealing.
What do you mean by track valid warranty? Are you referring to an after market warranty? I'm not sure the consumables will be any cheaper: tires, brake pads, brake fluid etc...alignment?...maybe.
thye are slightly cheaper and so labor rates. Lastly after mkt mods are cheaper as well.
The post I replied to referenced the Carrera. Not the Carrera S.
See above comment.

But that does not change my choice of a 991 C2S at all- it offers just the sort of performance I need and the look and feel I prefer (unless the 991 GT3 is very more streetable than its predecessor....).
I can't wait to see the works C7 racecars (yellow and black with racing skull on the back pls) going head to head with the 991 GT3 RSR next years 24h of Le Mans. That can be an epic battle, which I hope Porsche wins offcourse ;-)
Wife and I going to Daytona for Rolex 24; new combined United Sports racing series. New C7R, 991 GT3RSR
Owners manual out on C7. They advise 15-50 Mobil 1 when tracking. 5-30 otherwise. They could void warranty if engine fails on track if using "wrong oil".

In case you're wondering, still no tow hooks. So stranger they can't be bothered to just drill a hole.
Have Rennline tow hook on my GT3.
C7 owners manual says towing using subframe underneath. And they advise removing front plate for tracking. At least the front plate can mount without holes being drilled in bumper.

Regarding handling, I cannot compare the two, as I have not driven the C7. I also have ZERO intention of it, as I'm patiently waiting for the Z06 version. That will be a BEAST of a car (if past performance is any indicator).
And I don't feel the base 'Vette is any perceptible feel of improvement in performance over the 991 C2S, except WHERE and HOW the power comes on.

Not likely. The Z06 name goes back to the second generation Stingray of 1963-67 and repeated in the 5th & 6th generations so it'll still be called Z06 even in the C7.
Most of the media outlets are reporting it'll be called the Z07
