Ordered Car in Dealer Website Still at Port

I have a factory order for an October delivery with a September 6th production date. Have been asking SA for updates but he tells me the system doesn't give much info.

Yesterday the car shows up in their Porsche website as a "new vehicle" for sale. The dealer says it is still at the port but should come soon. Promises it won't be sold to anyone else. It is highly optioned so I am sure that's true but this is weird.

Anyone ever heard of a car getting put into a dealers Porsche website but still being at the port? This is odd.

Some dealers do list their cars that are imminently due or are in port on their websites. It doesn't mean that the car is unsold. Your car should be perfectly safe for you. I wouldn't worry.

Much appreciated. I figured someone here would know. After all the long wait it was weird just seeing it in their website but not having been notified.

I work with the port of NJ and the dealerships usually post their inventory to attract buyers prior to the car leaving the port. Good luck!

Compukidd, thank you. How long from NJ port to NJ customer delivery would you expect?

My 991 120 was built on Sept 6th, left Emden on Sept. 11th, entered Davisville on Sept 23rd, was released for transport Sept. 23rd. And to be at the dealer near
Detroit, Michigan Oct. 4th. I am guessing it is up to trucking company on how long it will take to get here.

It usually takes about a week.

Usually a new car will be posted at the porschedealer.com site once it has finished production, not when it has arrived.

Tony is absolutely right.

It is pretty normal to see it on the site.

My car is scheduled for delivery today after a couple days at the port.

I believe once a VIN is issued the mother ship in Germany puts the car on the dealers site. Porsche (not sure NA or Germany or both) has some control over each franchisee site (this is all per the GM at local dealer)

It just happened to me two weeks ago with the Q7. It shows on the dealer's website just to attract buyers. No worries...

Awesome. Bet you can't wait. Some people hang around the dealership before they open :-)
